This is a great introduction to Malcolm X. Keeping in mind, this book was written for the 8-9 year old age group, I think the author did a wonderful job. I love the areas where he can admit, we aren’t sure what happened here. Then propose questions to engage the reader to some critical thinking and discussion. What history books for kids and school tend to lack. 

There are some great poems and excerpts in this collection.

An important book that humanizes the immigration situation for the US and Central America. It was hard to keep straight the facts (probably because I read it over several months). But I’m left with the conclusion that we still have no good way to address any of the issues especially in our bi-partisan landscape where everything is seemingly undone every four years with no changes. And no surprise that ultimately it is always the humanity of people that are disregarded. 

This was an interesting book and well researched, but it was a little long winded for me. There was so much dedicated to Survivor and Big Brother, I never watched those shows so it was more than I needed. But fans of those shows and other reality TV would probably really enjoy it.
