How the heck am I supposed to read anything else after this?

That ending was too open so there better be a follow up book. 😭

But on a serious note, I very much vibed with this book and the story the author wove. It hit all the things I look for in an alt-history story with dragons and romance sub-plot. It was giving a beautiful combo of Fourth Wing, Atlas Six and Divine Rivals for me.

I do highly recommend this is you liked any of those but I also highly recommend if you like books that weave overarching world conflicts with smaller character conflicts and love a story that utilizes language in a unique way.

Overall, it did what I wanted. I smiled and cried and had a good time.

It didn’t really scratch that ND part of my brain that I was looking for but that’s okay. It was still worth the listen and I just requested the second book so we’ll see what happens with book 2.

*used my new book rating system*

The vibes were mostly mid for me. The overall plot of it was there even if it was mostly about the character herself. Which is why it’s a lower rating because tbh she kind of annoyed me and it’s not really giving me the hyperfixation feel that I get with other series.

I’ll definitely continue though because I am still invested in the overarching story the author is weaving.

I expected a silly goofy time with mythical creatures. What I got was that and trauma. In the best way possible.

Damn.
