I thought I was going to get a funny Grand Tour book, but this was far more painful than I expected. There was a lot of harmful tropes that were used to further the plot.

It’s hard to look past the bury your gays ending and suggesting that a character was driven to suicide because his Jewish lineage is discovered is blatant antisemitism.

 

I don't think I can give words to how deeply this book resonated with me. Grace's road to healing and self-discovery is something I think we have all dealt with to varying degrees, and to see that experience in the pages of a book was cathartic in ways I didn't know I needed. Definitely a 5 star read for me.
