when a chance encounter on a workhouse tour brings noel langston and catriona fergusson together, noel is dismayed. cat, the ex-mistress of noel’s bitterest political rival, is pregnant, alone, and destitute when noel stumbles upon her. noel, a foundling himself, decides then and there that he wants to help cat and her unborn child. he offers to marry her, making the child his in the eyes of the law. surely, their marriage will ruffle a couple feathers, which noel is counting on to help him get his reformist agenda to pass in the house of commons. noel and cat’s marriage of convenience has feelings igniting between the two, but are they enough to make the marriage last?
first comes marriage changed lives… at least it did mine!! i loved every minute of this beautiful romance!! jackie barbosa did a phenomenal job at creating characters i couldn’t help but fall for. noel is a cinnamon roll to his core and is completely gone for cat the second he lays eyes on her. his heart is in everything he does, so he just wants to love, cherish, and care for cat in any way he can. cat has been hurt before by men in her life and finds it hard to trust noel. she takes her new found position and turns it into a program that will help women turn their dreams into businesses that will be able to support them. the build up of their relationship had me hook, line, and sinker!! the third act was so fun to read for me. i loved the bits of drama that tied the plot together. this was such a fun read and i will definitely be reading more from jackie barbosa.
thank you to jackie barbosa for sending me this e-arc in exchange for my honest thoughts <3
tropes: marriage of convenience, virgin hero, secret (sort of) baby
