thank you to lillian lark for providing me with this e-arc in exchange for my honest thoughts <3

when former thief katarina agrees to do one final job for her mentor, she finds herself stuck between a rock and a dragon protecting his hoard. she barters her freedom with her body and agrees to relieve the pain of his heat. come the morning the two go their separate ways... until katarina finds out she's pregnant with the dragon's baby.

let me tell yall i ate this one up!!! like always lillian lark amazes with her ability to weave difficult subject into a fun, spicy monster romance. i loved katarina + kalos and the development of their relationship from start to finish (and boy did it develop). thief x dragon was such a unique way to start the relationship imo. the spice was spicing and kalos is quite a generous lover with two appendages. all that to say i loved this with my whole heart. kalos is my very sad boy that i love so dearly. the exploration of grief and how it affects so much of our world was powerfully explored through not only kalos but his inner dragon. i've enjoyed this series a lot and can't wait to see how the author will continue to grow the world after the reveals in this one!!

julia del mar ortiz isn't having the best year. she moved to dallas with a boyfriend who ended up moving back to new york. now she's stuck with a huge apartment and a car lease. her one great thing is running the charitable organization behind the most iconic high fashion department store. the only problem is the consultant hired to take the company public, rocco quinn, is after her job. julia has to make him see the value of the programs she runs. julia is in between a rock and a hard place because rocco is impossible to hate and even more impossible to avoid.

adriana herrera has such a talent for writing found families, and here to stay is the perfect example of that!! julia, rocco, and all the exiles were such a comfort to read. i enjoyed this romance so much and the spice was wonderful as usual. julia is learning what it means to live outside of the life she's always had and how to choose herself for once. i love her so dearly. rocco quinn is a swoony, emo, scarred, sad boy that just wants to be the man his sister needs. he sticks to his guns and makes sure his woman is satisfied. i love this book and can't wait to continue in adriana herrera's backlist!!!

barbarian's lady was a fun turn of events from the end of redemption. i liked the balance of a flirty, teasing harrec with a more serious, insecure kate. the external conflict was a call back to some of my favorites in the series. harrec was definitely swoony and every time he called her "my kate" and praised her for being strong + independent i was giggling and kicking my feet. over all, had a fun time reading this.

molly greene is willing to do whatever it takes to get her 50 million dollar trust, until she catches her would be husband cheating on her at their wedding shower. matthew hudson, her long time work crush, steps in to distract from her humiliation by declaring his love for her and offering to marry her. they just have to convince her parents that they are in love, that matthew is worthy of the family name, and get married. they'll gain access to her trust, get a quick divorce, and go on their marry way. but her parents have a major business deal riding on her previously arranged marriage and their fake engagement might not be so fake after all.

molly greene is the mirrorball girl of our generation folks. she's always exactly what everyone needs her to be, and she can't do it anymore. she wants to finally do something for herself and falling for matthew is just that. she can be the nerdy, bookish, silly, emotional version of herself that she's kept hidden for her whole life. i love her so deeply and kels + denise knocked it out of the park with her character dev. matthew is cat dad, sad boy, obsessed with making sure his woman is cared for in every way ;) i'm always amazed by how easy it is to fall for their books. they are sweet + steamy + such a fun time!!

beau eaton is tortured, in pain, stuck, alone despite being surrounded by people who care about him. he doesn't know what he wants after the end of his military career and he doesn't feel much of anything anymore. until bailey. bailey jansen is a bartender from the wrong side of the tracks. her father and brothers have run their family name into the ground and chestnut springs hates them for it. bailey is the one person in chestnut springs that isn't wrapped up in hero worship for beau, so when he finds himself sitting at the bar and causing trouble bailey is the first to call him on it. bailey dreams of leaving chestnut springs and its judgmental citizens behind; however, she can't seem to get hired anywhere. beau, desperate to feel something again, offers her his last name in a fake engagement. when the two find themselves feeling more than their fake engagement allows, they don't know if they will find it in themselves to end it.

honestly i think giving this 4.5 stars is my fault. i love elsie silver and chestnut springs is one of my favorite series, but i was not in the right space to read this. beau's book was my most anticipated in the series because he's a tortured hero. all that to say, i still loved this so much!! elsie has such a way of creating characters that seem like they shouldn't be together and then wowing me with a romance that feels so real. bailey was a fun, awkward, sex positive, sad girl that i want to read more of in romance + fiction in general. this was an easy book to get wrapped up in. any time i had to put it down i spent thinking about it.

alex torres has finally returned home. she is back in kansas to turn her grandmother's bar into a thriving business and resurrect her bartending career while doing it; however, jeremiah post is standing in her way. the professor is staying in a tenant space above the bar and has her whole family wrapped around his finger. the problem is, he wants to turn the bar into museum. jeremiah doesn't think alex has the bar's, her family's, or the community's best interest in mind. the mild mannered professor is willing to stand up to the gorgeous spitfire of a woman whom he now shares a wall with despite the instant attraction they both share. alex and jeremiah must come together when an even bigger enemy threatens the home that they both desperately need.

YALL!!!! YALL!!!! this freaking book!!! i cried, i sobbed, i laughed, i sobbed some more, and i loved. this was such a beautifully well done small town romance. the romance between alex and jeremiah was next level to me and getting to see them go from these two that couldn't stand to be in the same room as each other (even though the tension was through the roof) to being each others biggest supporters was amazing!! i loved the plot and milagro street coming together to share the history that was stolen/hidden from mexican-americans in kansas and throughout the great plains. i don't think there are words that can capture how deeply i love this book. pls pls pls pick it up. i won't shut up about this for the rest of my life!!!

given his past, bek certainly wasn't a character i expected to fall for as hard as i did. however, barbarian's redemption gave us an up close and personal journey through his mind as well as his growth. he is an alphamellow at heart and i love him so much. i liked the departure from the typical heroines we've seen until this point in the series. elly is definitely a scarred/tortured heroine and her journey was made all the more powerful when she was able to teach bek about the atrocities she and others have gone through. their relationship was a slow burn work of art. this was just missing something for me that i can't quite put my finger on.

cassie evans is desperate for a new job and not wanting to return to her onlyfans account when she stumbles on an ad for a live in nanny position. her problems are seemingly solved until she meets her would-be employer. aiden reid is certainly not who cassie expected. an executive chef who is in desperate need of a nanny, aiden tells cassie that she is the most qualified candidate to apply in weeks and hires her on the spot. cassie quickly finds herself falling for the handsome single father and his daughter, and the tension between the two is through the roof. it's then that cassie discovers she's already intimately familiar with aiden her biggest (only)fan. cassie struggles to tell the truth and with the possibility that she could lose everything she could possibly want.

the tension was tensioning for sure!!! i ate this one up and have no regrets. i had so much fun reading the nanny bc single dad x nanny is a winner in my eyes, especially in this case where cassie formed such a meaningful relationship with aiden's daughter first. i also felt that the third act break up was so well done + necessary to their growth. the addition of the hidden identities was so fun and definitely didn't go the way i was expecting it to. lana ferguson is definitely an author i want more from in the future.

val doesn't believe in love; pyro doesn't have time for love. the two find themselves drawn to the other after a chance encounter at a fantastical sex club. the two agree to keep seeing each other, but only if there are no feelings involved. unfortunately, keeping their feelings at bay isn't as easy as they thought it would be.

what in the time jump??? i was vibing loving the tension and val's fear of love when bam it's a year later. i generally had an okay time reading stupid cupid. i love when the mc doesn't believe in love and it's even more special when it's a cupid that doesn't believe. val is a softy at heart, so i really liked him. talk about man (er... santana) obsessed!! pyro pursued val with everything he had, pulling out all the most romantic gestures. maeve black's world building is such a strong point, and i wish i could find myself in the arms of a santana (🥵😈). overall, an okay read.
