My brain is in a plot-heavy mood and this book is definitely low on plot (could be one I return to though! I was enjoying the writing)

I just wasn't grabbed

Not bad writing, I just don’t know why this story is being told. It feels aimless and I’m not connecting 

This is for a niche audience that I am not- I think some will really love it though

I HATE the writing style here and I have never encountered a protagonist so insufferable. 

I’m not sure why, I simply found I wasn’t connecting to this one the way I wanted to. 

The narrative structure created such distance from the events and characters that I just never felt drawn to pick this up. 

This book has a seed of something good, but was badly in need of editing. It should be 20-30% shorter in my opinion, a lot here feels extraneous or drawn out. Evie is a difficult main character to root for because she seems deliberately oblivious.
