Twinmaker is a very high tech dystopian action adventure. Full of artificial intelligence, futuristic technology, and a way to make yourself better without any work But everything comes at a cost, including this new "Improvement" that Libby, Clair's best friend, has decided to try. This is the first step in Clair's journey into a dangerous conspiracy.
The book is full of action, it's almost non-stop, but it didn't ever quite get to the point where it was too overboard. It kept the pages turning fast and easy. The technology was introduced in a way that made it seem part of everyday life (which is was for our characters). This is the technology that Clair must take on head to head to try and save Libby.
While the strange Q wasn't the main character, she was by far my favorite. While I had figured out part of her secret early on, the author did a great job when it was time for her big reveal and made the wait to find her true story well worth it. Clair was about as dynamic as they can get. At times she seemed to be an entirely different person that what she started as.
I almost gave this book five stars. Q was just a little too into everything and came to save the day against impossible odds a little too easily at times. I would have liked to see them work a little harder for it sometimes.

The world as we all know it is gone - most of the people have died and buildings and infrastructure have disappeared. Murderous bands are roaming and no place seems to be safe. Emma has been accumulating children - trying to protect them and keep them healthy, but she knows they can only make it for so long. When she sees the chance to join an honorable camp of men she jumps at the chance. She doesn't count on falling for the leader - falling hard.
Fallen details the beginning of their relationship and has a ton of world building. I love character and world building so this was a really big plus for me. On the flip side, I don't know how I like Emma or Arthur right now. Both kept very very big secrets from each other - life changing secrets.
The story ends with no resolution (it is a series and I've already started book two) and no HEA (just a warning for those that need to have that at end of every book). I'm anxious to see what these two do next because there's a lot up in the air at the of this book.

The Billionaire's Demands was an interesting mix of romance and business maneuverings. Booth and Camryn both work in the publishing world with some very well respected magazines. When he asks her to be the keynote speaker at his company's annual retreat he has two motives. One, she's a great speaker. Two, he wants to spend some more time with the woman he has been crushing on for months
Right when they think they have really hit it off (in Hawaii of course), Camryn uncovers something fishy and she's not sure what to do about it. This drives a wedge between them that may not come back out. This was a great story - the conflict could have been built up a little more though. I think Camryn was an amazing character - Addison Fox seemed to nail the "business woman with something to prove in a male world" perfectly.

Emma has made is successfully back with her family (her husband and two girls), but she had to leave her new love, Arthur, behind. But Arthur isn't one to let someone he cares about just disappear and he is on his way to find her. In the meantime a group of raiders has kidnapped Emma's oldest daughter - and when they find the raiders I was surprised to see who it was.
In the book we get to see a little more of Haywood, Emma's husband, who doesn't want to let her go. Emma is going to need to make a choice soon between the two men, but she is unsure who is more important to her.
Cold Light is another very exciting and action packed book. We find out more about Emma and Arthur's powers and are introduced to a crazy woman named Kangee that I really enjoyed, along with a whole new group of friends and allies. It was a great follow up to Fallen, but I'm still not sure which man she will eventually choose.

I have been a long time fan of high fantasy - I practically grew up on the back of a dragon surrounded by wizards throwing fire balls at the enemy army (undoubtedly full of trolls and goblins). Moth and Spark was a pleasant return to this genre. With plenty of dragons around and a splash of magic thrown in, a dashing prince falling in love and a wise king guiding his kingdom from the evil baddies that threaten the safety of everyone - it was everything I had hoped for.
Prince Corin was everything a good prince should be and Tam was the perfect (if not exactly socially acceptable) girl for him to fall in love with. But the dragons have given them a task - the dragons want to be freed from their slavery to the evil emperor whose family stole them long ago. The book follows the pair (and their many helpers) as they try and fiure out just how you're supposed to free a dragon. There was plenty of treachery, a few epic battles, and a lot of looking into themselves in order to find the solution.
If you are a lover of fantasy and need something fresh and new, this would be the perfect book. Fast paced and interesting, you're sure to love it.

When I read the Suddenly Cinderella Series Bundle a little while ago I realized there was a very short novella (only about 50 pages) that wasn't included. So begged and pleaded with Entangled Publishing and they were awesome enough to send me a review copy. Now I know it isn't Christmas season for a long time yet, but I don't think there's ever a bad time for some Christmas cheer (I know - sappy right).
This is the story of Starr and Matt - both employees at the magazine from book one (Starr was Macie's boss). It's a fun and quirky twist on the classic Christmas Carol. Starr's special spirit visitor chooses the form of Matt - her hunky work crush - and shows a life with and without. Starr just needs to figure out how to open up enough to make all the good things come true in her life.
This was a fun quick jaunt through a Christmas classic. It's hard to do it wrong, but it's also hard to make it something new and exciting. Hope Tarr did a good job trying to add some interesting modern twists to the tale.

The Polaris Uprising is one of the best science fiction books I've read in a long time. Ryla and Alanna were fascinating characters and I grew to love them both. Ryla is set to inherit the role of President from her father. She is being groomed to follow in his shoes and to make the tough decisions without looking back....but when she finds out the type of decisions her father has been making she has second thoughts. She realizes how opressive her father's rule has been, and what people are being made to give up every day.
Alanna, on the other hand, is there to support her father (and by default her sister), but when the two collide her loyalties will be tested - she will have some of the most difficult decisions to make. In an amazing and dystopian world full of just enough fancy technology to make it new, and just enough humanity to keep you locked into every page I finished this book in record time.
While the book does not end in a cliff hanger - I am eagerly waiting the next one so I can see how everyone's choices will play out.

The second episode of Incorrigible is a lot more hopeful than the first. We continue to meet a ton of interesting characters and lines begin to form between the various groups we have met that give a hint at tieing things together.
Grainne has landed in a new land searching for settlers to re-populated the destroyed island nation of Incorrigible. She never expects to find the group that she manages to run into. More new creatures - some that are similar to classic fantasy and some that are products of a very creative imagination - become both friends and some possible enemies.
The hopeful thread continues throughout the entire story and it seems to end on a fairly high note compared to the first book, but still leaves you wondering what is going to happen next.

When the book starts off talking about a rich girl running away to join the circus I though it was joking - but it really wasn't. This was the start to a novella that was unusually unpredictable. Nina is a dancer - the kind the dances in the air on the long pieces of fancy fabric (no idea what they are technically called) - and she's really good at it. But her old-money filthy rich family has never really approved. So when she heads home for her sister, Honey's, wedding she asks Alex, financial director, to come help keep her grounded and sane.
Now, there lots we can guess by the title in the title, but it really doesn't come into play much at all - which was also nice. Alex and Nina have a bit of an "I can't be with you, but I really want to" relationship but the reasons behind it were better than some I've read. A cute and funny romp into a world that invovles a circus was a great read.
