Holly is special, she just doesn't know it. A foundling raised without a family, she has always held onto the make believe family she kept in her head, especially around the holidays. When a strange, but very attractive man, starts showing up everywhere she begins to suspect that something is wrong. Too bad for Holly that there's so much more wrong than she every thought. Stalked by a deadly and ancient force out to steal souls, Holly may be the only one that can save the unsuspecting humans.
A very sweet little paranormal romance - however, it was very tame. Lots of romance, no sex. Sometimes that's just the type of story you need around the holidays though. Many times in novella's it's hard to get to know the characters, but I felt very close to Holly by the end of the story - quite a feat for so few pages. The ending left me a little wanting and quite rushed, but at least satisfied that the loose ends were wrapped up. If you looking for a quick Christmas feel-good type of romance, this one may just hit the spot

This was the second attempt at this book - the first being when I was a teenager and I just couldn't get through it. This time was totally different. A very complex and compelling story taking us back to the days of the ancient Greek gods. With the fall of the ancient Labyrinth, evil is unleashed on the Greek world and civilization quickly crumbles. Far away on the coast of what will one day be England, one small outpost thrives with the Mistress of the Labyrinth as it's leader. Calling out to her partner, the Kingman, she sets in motion a devastating series of events that will either lead the world into the light, or destroy it forever.
While at times the complex storyline made the book drag a little - every sentence had a reason for being there, you just might not realize it yet. Definitely not a book for those wanting a quick run through a fantasy land, this book requires a bit of concentration - but it's well worth the effort. About half way through things just started falling into place and I had a hard time putting it down.

Rafer's pack is slipping fast - they need to find mates and quickly or they will forever turn on their human sides and become a wolf forever. Unfortunately, they can only find their mates once during a blue moon (literally). Rafe is quite excited to see that Lark Andrews is this blue moon's bride. He only hopes that she will be able to accept the fact of what he is and what his entire pack needs.
This is one of the few paranormal books I've read that had a serious freak out - OMG you're a werewolf?!?!?! moment. It was fantastic!!! Lark was such a believable character you felt drawn to here immediately. Now Rafer - well he was quite the hot little piece - and he knew just what to do to get Lark going in all the right ways. Now he just needs to convince her to take the whole pack into her heart to save them all. The fact that it's set in the Louisiana bayou - a favorite setting of mine - only added to the mystique of it all.
To top it all off, the sex was great and there was even time for a few heated battles (won't say more about that - can't ruin the surprise). Even though you know how the story is going end - the route that Anne Marsh took to get there left you wondering what was going to happen to get them there with every page

I was super excited to read about the Wolf of Awe - from his brief appearances in the first two books he really drew me in. Unfortunately, he left me a little wanting, as did his leading lady, Brie. Aiden has changed a lot since book two of the Masters of Time and is not quite the tormented soul - and feels the need to remind everyone of this quite often. For a super powerful half-demon magic wielding immortal, there were times he came off a bit whiny. Thankfully he improved as the book went on and grew to become the awesome character I'd hoped for.
Brie was a little more fun at the beginning, but at times her blind devotion to Aiden grated on my nerves a bit. It was fun to see her come out of her shell and become the person outside that she was inside. I really enjoyed watching her psychic ability grow and can see her becoming quite powerful in future books.
Once again Brenda Joyce was able to pull me into her story and I didn't want her to let go. When the book was done I was so sad to leave the Masters of Time until I could get my hands on the next book. While her characters may not be my idea of perfect, they did fit the story well and helped to carry it along smoothly. Dark Victory is up next in the series and I can't wait to read about another hunky highlander.

Jeaniene Frost doesn't disappoint in this new novella about the realm of Nocturna - an world inhabited by Fallen angels, demons (purebloods), and half-breeds (or partials as they are called). Mara is a partial that lost her cousin to a pureblood attack and has returned to Nocturna to find him and kill him. While there she meets Raphael - an enigma with a mysterious past - and ruler of Nocturna. Mara and Raphael have quite a bit of heat between them, but a misunderstanding could ruin everything for both of them.
This was a very quick read. The story was fast paced and exciting with just enough of an air of mystery to make it almost impossible to put down. I hope Frost plans to write more about the world of Nocturna - I loved visiting.

This is an old school book that I acquired from my grandparents (I think). While it introduces the history of Alexander the Great in a wonderful young adult novel fashion, I was surprised at the moral lessons that were included. The book clearly states that certain personality traits were "evil" or "wrong" and others were "ideal." In one instance they even pointed out that drunk people have boring conversation. Not only did I learn a little of Alexander's life, I had a few chuckles along the way.
Non-stop mile a minute action starts this book off right at the very beginning and doesn't stop - even after you finish the last page. Lydia Martin finds herself thrust into a crazy world that she would have never imagined actually existed - and that the man of her dreams (literally) is right in the very center of all the craziness. And we all know that he can't forget the sex. With just the right mix of dream-like fantasy and reality, it can get quite hot. Somehow, Dianna Hardy has managed to fit everything I like in a longer novel into a nice compact novella and still leave me wanting more. With a cliffhanger ending (that comes right after a very unexpected twist) that had me trying to turn to pages that didn't exist yet, I don't think I could have asked for much more.
Dallas isn't having a good day - she's late for the interview to get the job of her dreams, and it seems to be a reoccurring nightmare! Little does she know that she's the one behind all the strange things that seem to be happening lately. She may not know, but Brendan does. Brendan is a protector and he sees the dark thing that hungers for Dallas's soul. He knows that it's his job to protect her, but he wants to do so much more that just that.
To save the day he invades her dreams and forces her to realize what she really is and to prepares her to face an unspeakable evil force. Their destinies are intertwined in such a way that in order to save them both, they must both learn to trust and love after lives that have taught them to do just the opposite.
A sexy and exciting ride that follows A Wizard for Christmas in the Protectors series. Not nearly as tame as A Wizard for Christmas, McFalls pulls out some amazing writing that creates a novella that demands to be read in one sitting.

Horace has a really big problem. He somehow transferred his powers to Faith when they had sex in the alley. Now, not only is does he have his regular day to day problems to deal with (such as repressed memories) but he also has to deal with a girlfriend that tends to glow and tear the universe apart by the seams when she gets angry with him. The only way to save both their lives (and that of the rest of the world) is to figure out what the hell happened.
The third book I've read in the Protectors series is by far the hottest. Horace and Faith have a chemistry that is like few I've ever read. Horace has to face up to the years from his past that he has blocked in his mind in order to fix it all - and Faith has to hang on for the ride. We get to find out an tiny itty bitty bit about why the Protectors are here and where the come from as well. I hope McFalls continues writing about this group.

You can find quite an interesting group of people at an archaeological dig in Kenya in 1961. This is where Natalie Nelson finds herself as part of a remote dig site in the Serengeti. Things are going great until the team runs into grave robbing and murder that Natalie becomes a key witness of. But of course, that is not all. Natalie finds herself in a battle between two brothers - a competition that had been around for their entire lives.
I don't think anything I say can really do justice to this book. I feel as if I was in Kenya. I felt the heat, I heard the animals, I smelled the Serengeti. There was a lot going on in Kenya in the early '60's and I was able to experience a little bit of all of it by reading this book.
The characters were engaging and dynamic, the setting was beautiful. My only complaint is that the author lingered over the political aspects of what was going on in the country in a way that I didn't understand at first.
