Psychic Visions is one of my favorite paranormal romance series. They are stand-alone enough that I can enjoy each one individually, but there's enough crossover that you get to know the world and how it works. The world isn't so different than ours, it just has a variety of psychic powers.

Rare Find went a little to far into the psychic abilities for my personal tastes though. We actually meet Tabitha in book 5. A lover of animals, she has a special connection. That special connection is her ability to feel what they are thinking and find out what they need and want to be happy and healthy. This I can believe. But the next step in her psychic development just was a little too much - just barely.

Detective Ronin is a great guy - even if he is afraid of cats - like panic attack afraid. But he's fiercely protective and crazy smart and it's just what Tabitha is going to need. Their romance is an odd one because Tabitha isn't actually present in the real sense throughout part of the book. But this dangerous situation only cements Ronon's feelings for her and insticts to protect her at all costs.

Rare Find was one of the more exciting additions to the series - with a good dose of action compared to some of the others. It was a real page turner that was a good step along the path of the series. I think what really stood out to me in this one was a gathering of characters and ideas from past books that seem to be coming together into something really big coming up.

No Excuses is another amazing book by Nikky Kaye. Mixing a fly by the seat of your pants girl with the ultimate planner seems like quite a long shot, and it really is. But when Gage decides that everyone must attend a work retreat designed to build trust and teamwork, Maddie is put into some pretty precarious situations.

Gage is just the right amount of controlling with a small dash of humility that allows you to fall in love with his over-bearing controlling self. He's really quite lovable underneath it all, he just needs to be in control. Maddie never thought that was what she needed, until a few "trust exercises" later and suddenly things seem a little different.

Nikky Kaye is a go-to author for me and she has yet to disappoint. If you are looking for a super hot romance, unique and fun characters, and a good dose of humor, then this is the perfect book for you.

I was excited to see how Sam and Nick met for the first time. We hear little bits and pieces throughout the series so far, but never the whole story. This is a quick and sweet little novella that shows just how perfect Sam and Nick are together.

Their first night together is quite memorable, and neither will forget it for years (as we know from the rest of the series). I can totally see why they fell so hard for each other, and I totally hate her ex even more now that I see what could have been.

One Night With You is a fun and sexy addition to the Fatal series. While you don't need to read it to follow what's happening in the main series, I'm really glad I picked it up to see a glimpse into the past.

I just couldn't do it. The women's behavior was beyond ridiculous and made me cringe a little every time they started to speak.

The ending to Everything We Keep left me wanting so much more! There were knots left all tied up and people on the verge of breakthroughs or breakdowns that I never had a chance to see. Everything We Left Behind picks up with James and tells his totally crazy story.

We start with a whammy - his memory comes back. His real memory. That means the person he has been for the past several years is completely erased. The man with a family, children, friends, and a business are wiped away forever as the original person re-emerges. I can't even imagine how confused and disbelieving he must have been. But Kerry Lonsdale took me there! It was amazing - not what happened to him - but how I was brought into that situation and those feelings.

Fast forward a little and we have a family quickly becoming dysfunctional. James' memories pick up with him still together with Aimee, who has moved on and is living a new life. Their conversations and interactions were another brilliant look into the lives of these people. We finally find out exactly what happened with Phil and how James almost died in the first book.

There were a few moments that things got confusing. I wasn't sure which part of the timeline I was in as things jump around quite a bit. Just a tad more streamlining and I think this would have been just about perfect.

*I voluntarily received a review copy of this book*

I have totally fallen in love with Ashwood. The first trilogy (Half-Lich) sucked me in fast, and The Dead Wolves has me hopping in my seat waiting for more. I love that the city is being brought to life in several shorter series that give me a chance to glimpse into different parts of the world.

The Dead Wolves are vampires - I know - I thought they would be werewolves at first too. But they are vampires working against the system of archaic rules of the vampire court. Cyanide is our leading lady here, and she has some deep secrets. Ones that she even keeps from herself. It's quite interesting how it all comes out into the open finally.

The Dead Wolves are set on finding out what is happening to the women disappearing from all over the city. But Cyanide may not have her full heart in it - she just wants out. Away from the city, away from the court, away from everything wrong. There was a surprising depth to her character that was revealed and morphed throughout the story. By the end of the story, she's like a different person, but still familiar and somehow not changed at all. I can't wait to see where the mystery takes her in the next book.

Esmerelda and the Second-Hand Suitor was a cute story. At times a little unbelievable, but other times incredibly down to earth. It was also quite refreshing to see an older couple portrayed as....asn older couple. I know, crazy right? Esmerelda and Hank are both over 40 and living real life with real life problems. Divorce, paying bills, meeting people, family drama, and wondering if it's even worth looking anymore.

Esmerelda was a bit on the unbelievable side for me. A little too much of her character seemed to be determined by what would help the story work better. She's a virgin - which I know can still happen - but let's be honest. It isn't very likely anymore. She can only have her inheritance if she's married - because her father is a chauvanistic jerk - which I am more inclined to believe, but it still seems far-fetched. Especially to have all these things fall on one person's shoulders.

Hank is a divorced, fighting to keep enough from his recent ex so that he can retire in peace, and is really and truly going through what seems to be a mid-life crisis. Flying south to spend some time away from it all, he meets Esmerelda, and they are both faced with some serious adult-like problems (such a refreshing prospect).

This book dealt with real-life people facing real-life issues that would (mostly) affect any one of us that is no longer hovering in that 20-something age group. I really enjoyed seeing an older couple than I usually see in a romance with experiences and personalities that fit them well.

John Mattew is quite an intriguing character to me. His mysterious background, his strange link to Darius, and the bond he has with Bella all made him really stand out among the strong characters in the Black Dagger Brotherhood series. Since then, he's grown into quite the vampire and fighter, but not quite fully finding his place yet.

Xhex is one of the physically strongest females we've seen in the series and I love how she just doesn't take any crap from anyone. One of my biggest overall complaints about the series is the lack of recurring female characters. Yes, the shellens pop up from time to time, but I thought Xhex had real potential to be part of the team and give the series a female character that is more than just a utility. We see a lot of her potential and strength showcased during her ordeal and recovery from Lash.

Tons of things happening in the background including a bombshell with Payne. Blay and Qhuinn continue to tip-toe around each other, but with the addition of Saxon and Layla to the scene things might just be reaching their tipping point.

The fight with the Lessers continues and on one hand, I really enjoy the continuity this brings to the series, but I'm also sort of hoping that a new "bad guy" will pop up and really add some twists and turns.

I've always thought Beauty and the Beast had a dark side to it. Dark Angel brings that side out and makes it the star of the show. Haunting and mysterious, Gerard and his island bring an aspect of the beast to life that I hadn't seen before. Catherine was a perfect Beauty, without being too innocent. The two are a perfect match for each other from the very beginning. The story begins with Catherine washing up on the shores of a strange and magical island where Gerard is the Master in all possible ways. Used to getting things how he wants and when he wants, Catherine's force of will is a refreshing change and he instantly knows that she will change is life forever. The ending of Beauty and the Beast is what makes the story so special. It's the ultimate true love story - falling in love with the person inside instead of relying on appearances. Dark Angel's ending was the most magical fairy tale ending I've ever read. The perfect retelling. - See more at: http://hotofftheshelves.blogspot.com/2013/10/review-dark-angel-by-tj-bennett.html#sthash.u3DbUYUx.dpuf
