Having finished the whole series now, I want justice for Susan.  But also the religious undertones really started to feel like overtones in the last few books as well.  I think in a lot of ways this could be a really good book to discuss big ideas and questions with kids, but I don't know that I would want children to just read it without checking in on what they got or what they might have missed in the story.

This book dragged a bit more than some of the others but maybe that’s because I wasn’t super invested in Jill and I ended up feeling even less invested in Eustace or even the prince. I would say it wasn’t a very meaningful installment in the series. 

The adventures on each island were fun. But while I was expecting religious undertones in this series, this book in particular it felt more like overtones. 

I wasn’t sure what to expect from this book, only remembering bits and pieces from the movie but overall it was a good installment in the series. 

This was an incredible collection of essays. I think personally I could not even fully appreciate some of the essays because I’m not musically inclined. I haven’t done an audiobook in a long time but this one has made me open to more. I didn’t expect how choked up I would feel at the end when I got to the acknowledgments. It crept up on me just what a beautiful exploration of a wide range of emotions these essays are. 

How am I supposed to wait for the next volume?!?! I love that we’re starting to explore the more powerful side of Persephone. And I love this version of hades and Persephone so much! 

So much of the character description and portrayal came across as Islamaphobia or colorism. I was expecting a fun children’s book, and the story was but it was hard to unsee from just the very beginning of the book. I huge reminder of when these books were written and so far out of the series I think this would be one that hasn’t aged well. 

A fun read.  I always loved the movie and I'm glad I'm reading the whole series.  I'm not sure I understand how the other books will fit into this story, especially considering where this one ends.

I’m familiar with Narnia but have never actually read the books. Now reading the origins with the Magician’s Nephew and understanding the religious themes I thought it was a nice read. I could see how the series would have captivated children everywhere. I’m looking forward to the other books in the series as well, especially since I’ve only watched a couple of movies. 

I received this book as a gift because of the beautiful cover. it’s is a fun collection of old nursery rhymes and songs. The beginning introduction about coral reading was interesting as I wouldn’t have considered that this collection is actually a tool for teachers to teach students or help guide and inspire school concerts. I look forward to singing the ones about nature or the seasons with my own kids one day!
