Her books are fun, but also heartfelt. And after reading two I'm starting to see why some people have said I remind them of her. Seeing her as her own person, instead of Kelly Kapoor from the office, I've noticed we have quite a few of the same opinions!
I loved doing these lists. The prompts are great for guided journaling and doing it just once a week helped me get into journaling.
I enjoyed the first book in this series and I’m glad I picked up another. 52 lists for happiness was just what I needed and sitting down to do a list once a week helped me build a self care practice.
Great planner! Love that it’s undated so if I have a month where I’m in a bit of a rut I can just pick it up again when I’m ready and I won’t have wasted any of the planner. I love how it helps me get organized from a monthly overview, to weekly goals, and daily gratitude. If you’re interested in bullet journaling but don’t have the time or patience to sit down and draw your own calendar this is the planner for you!
This is the third of Backman’s books I’ve read and it’s wonderful. The story is so beautifully woven together. His stories are always a soothing hug and I highly recommend you grab a copy to curl up with this coming holiday.
This is a really cute book, and there are recipes that can be used for a classic dinner party as well, not just all things harry potter themed, even if the collection of recipes is based on the stories and the foods from the books/movies. You can read my full review and see pictures of the recipes I tried here: https://www.jasbeingjas.com/post/a-magical-meal
I really enjoyed this collection of stories! I would have finished it sooner if I hadn’t had to wait for the hold from the library again. But it also forced me to slow down and really savor each story.
I think the usefulness of these kinds of books really depends on where you are in life. Personally, I'm feeling kind of old because most of the topics in here I had already reflected on or considered at some point, and some very recently. But I think this would be a great book to give to someone headed to college or wrapping up. Each day forces you to focus on your own beliefs and values and it can be a great grounding exercise, especially for someone about to make a huge change. The great thing about all the sections is you can also use the sections you need when you need them. You don't actually have to go in order. Heading to college? Go through Education. Thinking about having kids? Focus on the Relationships section and figure out what you want that future to look like. Overall the exercises were a great way to guide someone who wants to put more time into self reflection and awareness or being mindful in their life plan. I'm not big on flowery language so sometimes the poems and "letters" from life kind of got away from me.
