DC vs. Vampires: All-Out War (2022-) #3
Alex Paknadel, Matthew Rosenberg, Matthew Rosenberg, Emma Vieceli
The backup was pretty damn good but the main story put me to sleep.
Aaron is finally back on his A game.
This issue focuses on Ralph in jail. When the foot attack him things get brutal and messy. A nice mix of the original TMNT feel but updated. Hyped for more.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #2: Return to New York Part Two: Super Mutant Turtle Power Go!
Jason Aaron, Rafael Albuquerque
Not as strong as issue 1 but still great. Seeing Mikey become a TV star makes a ton of sense. Art is great. Can't wait for more.
An okay start. Basically Cap doesn't trust the Thunderbolts under Zemo's rule, and Thunderbolts trying to do good while Zemo plots.
Getting better but still not there.
The two kissing was a nice change of pace. But these two feel SO distant, it feels weird. But I did like her meeting the family, that part was charming. But the ending felt weird again, more like using each other, than falling for each other.

Jesus Christ. Talk about dark. This tells the tale of Hunter's adopted daughter after his death. Looking for a father in her life, someone to protect her, instead finds a sick sick man and her life dwindles fast. Be prepared this is dark.
This is some weird shit, but also, I can't stop reading?
If read something like Blood on the Tracks, the vibe and overall weird tension is in this title as well. Basically a man meets a woman after her husband died a number of years ago. He falls in love with her and they marry, and while they marry, he gains a new daughter who's in High School. This new girl is SUPER sweet but also wayyyy too clingy and touchy with her new daddy.
But this isn't a simple porn plot where the girl wants daddy and it's every step dad's fantasy play out. This girl obviously has phycological issues, and is very dangerous, by the end of the book going after a school bully in a cunning and evil way.
Is this high end art? No. Is it super fast paced, weird, and can't put down in a somewhat trashy way? Very much so. A 3.5 out of 5. I'll bump it to a 4.

An okay topper to the original Thunderbolts run.
The fact we added in the Avengers to give the Thunderbolts a boost on their way out is obvious. The story didn't need them and when there, they were the weakest part. Hawkeye was easily the best part of this 6 issue mini but overall nothing happens in the end that changes things. Bad guy defeated, nobody major dies, and they all smile as they go on. I will say I'm interested to see how the reboot basically, or next run, works.

First date time!
This was a cute chapter. Kubo tricks the boy she likes into taking her on a date. Which by the end we finally see some of his REAL reaction to the things happening since he hides it so well. And let's just say it's adorable. Also I love Kubo's sister, she's the best.
A 4 out of 5.

Love is messy. Throw in two teenagers trying to also excel at the sport they love and it can get even more stressful.
I enjoyed that the last volume ended on a big moment and we go right into it. Shooting your shot both metamorphically and in reality. Two girls trying their best, neither unsure how to handle this right. And at the same time our main lead trying to figure out how to balance his sports training with also falling in love, and not wanting to break his best friend's heart.
Overall a great chapter in a story that balances the love, sports, and coming of age elements all pretty damn well.
