An okay origin story for joker. There’s been far better.

Solid art but story is dull and confusing.

New Review: 2023 - Still the same feelings except I liked it even more and bumping it to a 5. The opening is hopeful, the middle crushing, then back to having hope then BAM, awful at the end. A great up and down and I need more.

Old Review 2017: Damn this one is tough as fuck to read. Talk about losing all hope.

To be honest Low is a tough read. Sometimes the water colors and art make it confusing. Sometimes the story sucks out so much hope you feel awful. Sometimes...sometimes...

I dunno sometimes it's just not "enjoyable" to read cause it's real. Because the things happening in here are sickening or fucked up. Or because the "good guys" aren't always good, don't always live, people die for no reason. This is life in a reflection and betrayal is sadly a big part of most people's life. This is no different, and to me is thrilling to read.

This volume ALSO deals with getting to the surface. A happy chapter turns dark quickly and by the end I was left with shock and sadness. Wonderfully put together yet sad as fuck, and I can't say it enough, I felt the hope leaving my mind when reading this.

Saying that this series evokes a lot of emotion from me and can't wait to read the next volume.

Low is a book about Hope even through all the dark shit in our lives.

It's also about everyone living underwater cause the heat from the sun turned above surface to unlivable area. A mom and her kids and husband are just trying to live their life but are attacked by pirates and their lives are changed forever. This leads a time skip 10 years later where mom has to figure out how get her family all back together.

It's about hope. It's about survival. It's about never letting the darkness over take you. Some of the art is very hard to follow at times, and sometimes, the art is extremely well done for certain shots. All worth checking out this is a great series.

New Review: Still same exact feelings. Super fun though the original graphic novel description had issue 6 as part of this volume but this ends with the Fantastic four storyline. However still super fun, love Felicia is written here, her crew is excellent comedy bits, and the art is real solid even if sometimes weird faces. Overall, if like adventure, comedy, and a bit of sexiness, this is a must read. It's also Jed Writing, and he's on his king writing shit currently.


Old Review: A real fun adventure starring Black Cat who I never cared about before now.

The first half is the highlight with getting to learn Black Cat and her gang on top of going into Dr. Strange's home. This is the funniest parts and also most intriguing. The next storyline with Fantastic Four is still fun but is missing the mystery charm of the previous arc. The final one issue arc revolves around Felica going on a date while her father is trying to survive being chased around town.

I think for me to get on board with a Black Cat series you have to make the characters enjoyable and that is what Mackay did. I didn't love all of it but I was enjoying it the whole time reading it. I'd probably give it a 3.5 but I'll bump it to a 4 for being surprised on how much I enjoyed it.

Sailor and I got a great laugh from this one. Between the funny and kind of scary looking monsters to being SUPER scared of a simple bubble, to the narration being pretty dang funny. This one is a ton of fun and we re-read it least once a week.

Weird yet very intrigued.

Basically our main character, Reiji, has a pretty shitty life. He's depressed most of the time thanks to his living conditions. His mom relies on him for everything, his Grandma has dementia, his brother is a loser shut in who's violent, and he just feels like he'll be stuck in this shitty town because of his living situation.

Then he meets a girl. And girls change your life. Go from depressing to oooooh you're hot. But this girl is actually a Ex-Idol living in this shitty town and now they begin something special but the deeper we get into it, the darker the story gets, and the more fucked up this whole entire town truly is.

The thing is I'm not sure what is real and what isn't. It all feels like a fairy tale, a dark one, but also a intriguing one. I can't stop looking away from the disaster I know is coming. Be prepared to read about suicide, depression, abuse, ect before jumping into this though.

A really solid ending. Loving the references to Akira and Dragon Ball Z in this run, but especially this issue. Conner came a long way and he's progression is is stellar. Hoping we get more minis with him down the line.

Learning the history of the "villains" of this story made it more interesting for sure. As always the art is also top notch. This is the building bridge to the final climax but a very serviceable one.

Waller always a evil bitch. A solid issue but still more building, I'd figure this be the first half of the climax. This just sets more in motion. The final issue going to have a lot to live up to.
