A definite step down but it's still solid.

Basically Spectre is having a crisis after the events of the last volume. The death has made him question everything but especially humanity. So he starts taking matters into his own hands. Even though he's supposed to be vengeful, he's now striking out, and it's about to get messy.

Unlike the last volume that felt grounded even with the magical side of things we had a strong connection between two main leads. Here, that's gone, and instead it's Spectre having a mid-life crisis (or death crisis?) and it's entertaining and makes you question things. But at the same time the storylines with Justice League don't fully work, and the first storyline goes on too long for the result I expected.

But overall art is still great and I like Spectre, I just wish the plotting was as strong. A 3 out of 5.

I can't for the life of me figure out why this title was canned? This was great.

First two issues focus on Patriot and his story. Finding out maybe he's not so much like his grandpa in the end. It's pretty touching, and brutally sad at points. Then we get the second half of the story which is mostly about Hulking and his "destiny" being two different races. The Kree and the Skrull come to take what they think is there's. We also get some new members here, background on Kate and the rest, and overall just some really great stuff.

These kids feel real. That's the biggest plus to it all. Almost more family but working together as a unit. Better than most do, and the best I read since maybe New Warriors back in the 90s. I really dig them all together, the storylines are fun and exciting, and the only negative is that it ends here the main first run. It's not fair!

It's interesting to read stuff prior to Brubaker's Cap. Just has a different feel, though it's not awful.

The first part of this collection is actually fun. Forcing Cap to team up With Red Skull. It's both fun, action packed, and gets who Cap is. It's a easy going story with a lot of great moments even if some of the dialogue feels dated. The second half is messy. After getting past the issues about "The Crossing" event which everyone hated, we have Cap dealing with being exiled from United States of America. He needs to clear his name.

It's simple stories that are effective for the point they're trying to get across. While not overly deep or as dark as later stories, they shine a bright hopeful feel that only Steve Rogers can give. For the entire collection it would probably rate around a 3 to a 3.5 out of 5.

Weird, silly, kind of pointless, but the art is solid and it's funny in parts. A 2.5 out of 5.

The first half of this issue is a bit goofy with a obvious stand in for O.J. Simpson case. But it's the second half, the past, the woman who once loved The Spectre before he became the spirit of vengeance, and the ultimate faith of someone trying to exact revenge. A twisted and real FUCKED up ending we got here. A 4 out of 5.

Civil War was a rough time for a lot of heroes, and that's no exception to the Young Avengers and runaways.

As someone who's reading Young Avengers for the first time, and read Runaways for years prior to this when I was a teenager myself, this was a nice treat to myself.

Basically Young Avengers witnesses the Runaways getting attacked on national television to they had to try and save them. While there the Young Avengers and Runaways start off on the wrong footing, which is no surprise, that's how it usually happens. Then when the real threat comes in, they have to work together to save each other.

Well written, funny, filled with a lot of heart this volume worked real well if you are a fan of these teams. I will say it got really dark at one point, maybe too dark, but it overall fit the dark and gritty feel of the 2000's back then. If you're a fan of either team this book is worth checking out.

Telling different tales for the Young Avengers characters. This one is a bit weaker than I had hoped. There's still some good moments, especially in Patriots story, but most of them are just kind of decent, with some cool insight of where they are in life, but doesn't feel like the team is back together in this one like I hoped. Still solid though, but more on a 3 or 3.5 out of 5.

From the creator of Tokyo Ghoul comes a wacky, over the top, little horror spliced in, and a kind of fun Manga.

This kind of reminds me of more over the top FLCL type anime but much better than it. Contains a main hero who kind of doubts himself always, which is typical but in this case makes sense. Even his "Choujin" form, which is a monster like form, is a vulture because he's always following his friends lead. Now he must stand up to people after becoming a monster himself.

It's not nearly as serious as Tokyo Ghoul and that keeps it feeling different enough and fresh enough to enjoy it. Sometimes it's WAY too over the top but the characters got me interested to see where we'll go. Not great, but good. A 3.5 out of 5.

Aa good a tie in as you can hope for. Secret Invasion wasn't one of my favorite events, but I liked Teddy being kind of the main plot point here being the half Skrull. It's never boring with plenty of action, but due to that, I don't get much interaction from the teams like the last team up, sadly.
