Re-read: So yeah, about the same thoughts. Lots of questions, lots of what the hell is happening. However, the art is still fantastic, and it is a interesting opener to a three part series. Excited to jump into volume 2 finally.
After I finished this volume I texted my friend these exact words...
"What the fuck did I just read?"
Moon Knight has never been a character I loved. I read Ellis run, read some stuff here and there for him, never really got the appeal. However, I'm always willing to give new artist/writers a chance to bring me into the fandom. Shit, if Tom can do it with Vision anyone can.
So Lemire's Moon Knight starts off with our favorite insane person stuck in a insane asylum. This whole volume is just a gigantic mind-fuck. Marc (moonknight) decides it's time to bust out of this place. He's seeing visions, creatures that replacing humans right in front of him, and the whole time you don't know what's real or fake. By the time this fast paced action adventure insane adventure ends you're left almost speechless.
Good: The art is clean yet cloudly and dream like. I really dug it, and the suit for Moon Knight was boss. I also really liked the trippy back and forth moment and making you question what's real or fake the entire time.
Bad: It doesn't offer any answers. I get this is the start but by the end of the first volume you should have SOME answers...you get really none.
Listen, I dunno if I'll ever LOVE a Moon Knight series but this one is def keeping me intrigued. I'll try out volume 2-3 and see if it gets even better. For now it's solid, weird, and fun. Let's hope it keeps getting better!

Sakamoto used to be a big time hit man. Took people out 1, 2, 3. Easy peasy.
But he met a woman named Aoi and fell in love and then had a kid, retired, and opened up his own grocery store. Everything was working out till Shin, his old partner, found him and told him he had to kill him. But Shin remembers too fondly of his old friend and soon Shin is working at the store. Everything is peaceful once more...till new assassin's come into town.
This series is over the top, but funny as hell, and excellent art. Some of the fight scenes are SO good here you could have told me this was straight up action and not a comedy/parody manga and I'd believe you. Fast paced, great character, excellent fight scenes, funny moments. This is the whole package.
A 5 out of 5.

Moon Knight goes through a very trippy, panel changing, and insane ending volume.
It's pretty much just watching Marc go through a adventure of finding himself while dealing with his different personalities. The ending was for sure the best part as the rest of it was confusing as the first volume with a lot of jumping around. Overall, intrigued how this will end.

Starting like a slice of life and ending with so many fucked up deaths, and being confused 90% of the time, but in the best way possible. This is something special, reminded me why I liked Remender to begin with. Took years for him to get back to greatness after few years of duds. Give me more of this please.
Finding out what makes moon knight be, well, moon knight is really interesting. Also great ending and wonderful art.
Not as strong as last two issues but still fun. Kelly has a good voice for Ben, and like his girl alot too, and the peter plot is interesting but Morbius is lame....
Wasn't super interested in Mr. KNIGHTS New Brother's story but the community relying and thanking Knight and also that ending were all great.
Another solid issue. Beyond almost letting Ben mutate shows their cracks already. Art was a bit iffy this issue.
The end of James' Batman run is here.
Batman has suffered a semi-loss from facing against scarecrow. Not sure if he can trust his own mind. On top of that the military state leader pushing his soldiers into the frontline and the Batman crew has to stop him. Letting our new female sexy badass step up to plate.
overall, it's a fine volume. It's not great, but not bad. The art is fantastic. I just wish James got more time on this title to flush out his story. but of course he has famously said this is where he dipped to write his own creator own stuff, and that's respectable.

Moon Knight ends on a weird as hell note because, well, this whole run was weird.
Very abstract and trippy but I didn't feel the big punch. There's some cool moments here, upside down pages, and a cool ending that I did enjoy about accepting yourself. So I liked all of that. But this story felt like it could have been told in 6 issues if I'm being honest and I didn't connect to pretty much any character.
A 3 out of 5 for the art alone and good ending, rest, just okay.
