Another solid issue, more getting the band back together type story, with the major difference being we begin the big mission push. It's a solid issue though the stuff with enchantress is just okay.
A strange ending though the last few pages were good I couldn't really get behind the main story in this one. I was a bit confused, and kind of bored, but the ending made me excited to read action comics next.
The next arc begins! This time Supes and his group of buddies head to Warworld to try and fix things and free slaves but we knew it wouldn't be that easy. Traps are laid and our heroes might be in some big trouble! Great art, good pacing, and a awesome start to a new arc. I'm ready!
Interesting backstory to a villain I don't know much about. The build up between this issue and last is making me excited for the finale next issue.
Iron Man gets the spotlight again and DAMN this is a dark look into a man dealing with his past, his drinking and addiction problems, while also trying to make sense of everything. This was great.
The first half is great, showcasing a true Samurai at work.
The second half focuses on our group and it is mostly teaching you how Tao works while planning their next steps. It's a very oddly paced section and although interesting at times could have worked the explanation in a lot better. But the build up and what is to come seems exciting and I have a feeling volume 8 will be the balls to the walls action we've come to love in this series.

So I was really excited to pick this up based on the artist/writer combo but...I didn't love this.
It tells a story of a girl who used to go on adventures with her friend, solving cases, and basically detective work. But as she got older she drifted away until one day she gets drawn back to this city and of course everything goes bad.
It's not a bad story. It's well written and drawn, but not...exciting? I didn't care too much about any of the plot points or characters, and while the art was unique, I didn't love the style of it. The color especially, the actual sketches in the back are great.
But yeah I might grab volume 2 but this didn't blow me away. A 3 out of 5.

A kind of "Where we're at now" and while it presented itself in a normal way than I thought this series would, I was still pretty interested throughout. Learning exactly what we have here, and how we'll go to the second half of this series, the fact this person revealed who he was a long time ago, brings a lot of layers to the reasoning of what they're doing. I'm in.
This was pretty solid despite not blowing me away.
Basically these "Scouts" in the future are trained to be warriors of hell in a sense that they are like a military unit. The world is in shambles, monsters run rampant, but the main story of this is Kit, who has to pretend she's a man to even be in the Scouts. After that she finds the truth about her people and has to make some very tough choices.
This is all about finding who you are and fighting back against the ones in control, mixed with some monsters. It is fun, the art is solid, there's some touching scenes, but it wrapped up so quickly and felt completed that I didn't get attached to anyone that much. While I enjoyed it I can't say I loved it sadly.

He goes into even more details on his current action comics run + other stuff.
But I'm even more excited to review this volume since this run has been really strong for me. Coming off the Bendis Superman/Action comic run I was hoping for something fresh and exciting again. I liked most of Bendis run even if it was running out of steam.
In comes a great story about Superman dealing with slaves as well as other political issues including people trying to claim what isn't there's. What we have here is a great story of Superman being, well, Superman. Trying to balance doing what's right while also dealing with his family. Trying to save people at all cost, while not letting people fight needlessly. And while this feels like a prologue to a bigger arc that is coming it sets the tone of a man trying to do his best, which is why we love Superman to begin with.
Dialogue is great, with some excellent art, and well paced storylines. This was the most excited I've been for Action Comics in awhile. I also LOVE the family dynamic here, and Kara, Jon, and Lois all get to shine too.
We're in for some good stuff people. Check out Action Comics.
