After getting to somewhere interesting with Peter we take a nice big step back...

This feels like mega filler. Spencer trying to bring his superior foes characters back one last time. Peter just goofying around after the terrible events of what just occurred with his best friend and spilling his heart out to MJ in last volume...what a shitty step back.

Also ugly suit even if the art for the fights is amazing.

A 2 out of 5.

Cute but didn't feel as funny or moving forward as late volume.

More of the same really. Was cute to see Uzaki train and then show she knew. And I really liked the ending, the more emotional bits work well and bring some really cute moments. The comedy is hit or miss this volume, with some working well (Love the father) and some not as much (Grabbing titties can only be so funny so many times) but overall it still overall feels more wholesome than sleezy which is nice.

I still want to read more for sure but just wasn't as into it as volume 1. Still good though so a 3 out of 5.

A interesting 4 part event in the mid-90's that you can tell was mostly made to redeem a certain hero gone villain but still a fun little story none the less.

A alien name Dusk lands on earth to warn everything of the dark times to come. Soon the sun is blocked out and everyone is slowly going crazy and everything will eventually freeze over and die. Putting main heroes like Superman even at risk without the sun you come up with some neat ideas. One having Lex work with the heroes is always cool, Superman being a badass hero even without powers, and all the new legacy characters at the time like Kyle, Wally, and more working with the OG heroes to save everyone.

Overall this was pretty enjoyable. The dark art by Inman made for some really cool moody atmosphere. I enjoyed the side two issues too which mostly focused on Hal's redemption and then funeral (This is 20+ years old people so don't tell me spoilers!) and you have a lot of neat moments with heroes saying goodbye, even when still pissed at what the once hero did. But the way he went out is admirable. I also enjoyed everyone working together and eventually showing the better side of humanity.

I won't say it was mind-blowing but it was a solid event you can read completely by itself. A 3.5 out of 5, I'll bump it to a 4.

Y the Last Man was basically my gateway book into indie comics. When this came out I was about 13-14 years old (There goes my age showing) and I was just getting into things like Ultimate Spider-Man, Amazing Spider-Man, Ultimate X-Men and more. And so when I picked up Y The last Man I had no clue what to expect but I was blown away.

Almost 20 years later and I'm still loving it.

Yorick is just a normal dude wanting to propose to his girlfriend over the phone but right before he can something horrible happens. Every creature with the Y chromosome dies suddenly. All but him and his pet monkey. So he must get to the love of his life but on the way he visits his mom and tries to survive Washington TV most dangerous people...REPUBLICANS!

Joking aside. There's alot of cool political intrigue. Doesn't really matter which side your views eventually fall on. It's interesting and makes you think what would a world filled with Women do different, and you start to see the changes here.

I love the setting, the characters from Yorick to 355 and so on. They're all rich with character development that matters, and in this book alone you meet so many characters in such a short time yet it works. The fights are brutal, people die, and you feel emotion already. The ending is like "Oh shit that makes sense they weren't here when it happened" and leads to something exciting next.

Anyway, all in all, this is one of my favorite comics of all time and reading it 20 years later I still love it.

This might be my favorite Punisher story ever.

The first arc is the build up to create the "Kingpin". In this Max universe, Kingpin is thought of as just a myth. So "mega figure" to control all the crime organizations in NYC. No one is really that person. Fisk starts off as a bodyguard and slowly decides to climb his way up the ladder to create the ultimate Kingpin we all know and hate. This is just the first arc as he becomes the lord of crime, Punisher tries to stop this accession. Sadly there's others in his way and by the time he tries to get to Kingpin it is too late. The crime lord has risen.

The next 15 or so issues involve a game of Fisk verse Frank. Both so eager to kill each other they make mistakes every step of the way. Hiring killers like Bullseye and Elecktra, backstabbing back and forth internally, and a blood good time as this tale is so fucking compelling I read half one night and half the next, and could have gone another 10 issues.

This stars a old, tired, and frankly done Frank trying to do his last few weeks as the Punisher. He sometimes just wants to die. Maybe always wants to die. But his body won't let him. He keeps pushing forward, onward, stabbed, shot, beaten, he keeps on going. A savage monster that won't stop.

The difference this time is we have monsters just like him. Especially Kingpin and Bullseye, supplying some really FUCKED up origin stories and tales along the way. With two vicious creatures against a monster himself it just makes for such a bombastic and exciting comic with the late great art from Steve Dillion. This is well worth reading.

A 5 out of 5.

Finishes up the first arc. Dick finally uses his money for a good reason that made me a little teary eye. The setup for things to come is great too.

Supergirl unreveals the truth on a certain planet and you get to see just how small a single person is compared to the horrors of the world. This was a really solid issue with excellent art.

So I'm a bit torn on this.

It feels for sure like Tomasi had least 2-3 MORE arcs to tell. His first arc setting up who dick is and how he works with the Bat family. Second arc really getting deeper into who nightwing is and how he takes care of his city/crime. Then as we're about to get to a bigger picture, Bruce's dumbass dies. Which eventually leads Dick into taking that Batman Mantle for a bit. Which is one of my favorite eras of Batman but still...sucks to cut Tomasi's story short.

Saying that I did enjoy it. First arc main story about clones and such is okay but Dick and his relationship with Tim and such is great. The second story is even better with Two Face, and really gets to showcase both the character and the city he protects come to life. Also, the ending is great and then the two transition chapters before DIck becomes Batman is good too.

SO yeah dunno if I loved it but it was a solid start for me with some great moments. A 3.5 out of 5.

Ben as Spider-Man again sounds so fitting. I'm excited as hell. Venom new story is interesting. Wonder where it'll go.

So Ennis jumps off and here comes Jenkins.

Well not too quick. First we have Delano come back first, and...it's a pretty great issue. Then we have Eddie Campbell, a writer I never heard of, chun out one of the most long, tedious, and confusing stories I've ever read in comic medium. Once we get past that we're introduced to Jenkins Hellblazer...except the first short story is like a bad ET knockoff. Then we FINALLY get to the Critical Mass story and...it was pretty good.

Seriously the middle is pretty bad. I was slogging through it. My brain was just like "What in the world is this shit? And why is it so boring..."

But let us talk about the good. Delano first story is actually really fun, crazy, sick, weird, and all the things I love about Hellblazer. Which at first was weird to me because I did not like the majority of Delano's run but this was great. With a crazy ass chimp and a fat disgusting mother, John must find a way to help his friend get away from the two monsters.

The last story, Critical Mass, is very similar to Ennis first big one. A boy is possessed by a demon and in order to release him, he tells John he MUST give him his soul. So John must figure a way to outwit the demon. It's pretty fun, and the last two issues are great, though it took a bit to get there with a lot of padding.

I'm torn between a 2 or a 3, because a large portion I didn't like. But it wasn't all bad and ended good. I'll rate it a 2.5 here but I'll bump it to a 3, only cause even with some bad stories the art stays solid.
