Marvel obviously wanted their own DCeased after it was a mega success (If didn't know the comic sold like hot cakes and the trade sold even better, being on top 100 books of the year for a long time for best seller) so we get Marvel Zombies.

And it's not half bad. Get a solid new writer (Phillip Kennedy Johnson is a solid writer after I read this I'm hyped for his Superman Run) and give solid art with a more mature story than I expected and you got something working here.

Not let me be clear. Marvel Zombies the original is one of the WORST comics I've EVER read so for me to come here and give it a try is saying a lot. But here I am and I'm glad I tried.

The first issue is really the one shot released in 2019 and it takes all the major players heading into space to find out if Galactus is really dead. When they get there, in Alien like fashion, they are attacked from every direction. This is probably the most brutal start I've seen in awhile as even the gods are having trouble here. Just when think something might turn around it only gets worse and ends right into the main series as Galactus body falls to earth.

The main story is actually focused on Peter, Val, and Franklin. Through this post apocalypses type story we are thrown into the future after the zombie infection has taken over a lot of people. We get glimpses of the night the creatures invaded, and it's pretty brutal.

And that's the thing. The dialogue is solid, the pacing is fine, the art is there but...it just isn't new. It doesn't feel as "OMG NO" shocking as Dceased and some of the characters feel a bit odd. I did like the more mature take and not just having everyone die in brutal ways but it felt oddly disjointed on the main storyline and the ending didn't do much for me.

But overall, if like zombies, like Marvel, you'll probably enjoy this. A 3.5 out of 5.

After months and months of this fucking political war going on I wasn't sure how much I'd enjoy this volume of Transmetropolitan focusing on presidents getting elected. However, the ending really made it for me.

This is basically Spider just pushing his way into both the people who could be president and shitty on each one by giving us facts. Funny enough one is basically like Trump, other more like say Clinton, and them bickering back and forth is...eerily the same as what we had to go through as the people. But the biggest thing I got from this all was Spider hates everyone and everything, except woman...cause he sleeps with them all.

I will say the plot itself was entertaining and the ending is so shocking it really boosted my score up to good to great. I think the ending is the punchline this storyline needed and it worked on every level. I also can't comment enough about the awesome art, nothing really looks like this world they live in. The negatives would be Spider yammers on SO much sometimes to the point it is annoying and for him to sleep with someone like 20 years younger than him...after what came out about Warren Ellis, wasn't a good look.

But overall, good stuff, really funny at points, and sadly very realistic despite it being in the future. a 4 out of 5.

This series is really boring...

This volume is just a bunch of background of various characters to build up to them getting attacked by another giant roach. This time on the ship it's just one instead of many but one can do major damage, murdering people, and of course giving us a titty shot incase you were bored or something. Overall, all the backgrounds were cliche, nothing really worked for me in this volume, though the fights themselves are easy to follow and brutal. Just meh at best though.

Yusuke and Co take on the 4 main demons to get the artifacts back.

This is kind of the first step into what Yu Yu Hakusho becomes. A battle shonen manga fully displayed here as Yusuke gets to show off his new abilities as does the rest of his crew. The fights are semi-simple in comparison to later ones or other manga, but they still have a sense of fun to them that is nice and not over-packed with so many super moves. I also really liked that the girls aren't showed as hopeless and can hold their own.

Overall, a solid action packed volume with plenty of cool moves to show off and quickly paced. A 4 out of 5.

100th booked review in 2021! Let's goooooooooooooooo!

So this is turning out to be one of my favorite mangas already.

A Ex-yakuza decides to live the househusband way. His wife goes to work and during that time he gets into all types of adventures. Dealing with a cleaning robot, trying to cook the best meal he can, buying a present for his wife and so on. It's all over the top, all very funny, and such a quickly paced manga I read it in about 15-20 minutes.

But it has a lot of heart. A lot of great laugh out loud moments. Art is fantastic and the little action that is shown is brutal to say the least. The wife and husband chemistry is near perfect. I really have very little bad to say about this one.

I just bought volume 2-4 I loved this so much.

More building towards the big fight.

This time Ichigo and co handle some weaklings, letting Chad and the Quincy show off their fancy new powers. While that happens we meet some kid hallows who...I guess are there for comedic effect. I already find them annoying but we'll see if they get better. There is some funny moments in this volume just not with them. The ending sets up Ichigo's next big battle but of course he hasn't even gone Bankai yet so I have no worries for him.

A decent volume. A 3 out of 5.

Kogami is just a normal teenager living his everyday boring school life when one day a little girl shows up in front of his school and decides to blast away his teacher's head.

Then 10 minutes later a army of invading magical girls just like the one at the entrance come from the sky to wreck havoc on humanity. Death, carnage, slaughter, whatever you want to call it. Kogami is on the run with a few students but every turn they make, every chance they try, people are ruthlessly murdered.

This is a zombie apocalypse type story but instead of zombies you can extremely creepy little magical girls floating around possessing people they kill and murdering everyone. I don't know how this will end but I was entertained enough even if it's stupid as hell. A 3 out of 5.

This was a dope, on chapter 10, we get a reason why Apocalypse is doing what he is doing. I'll be the first to admit, I like the X-Men but I couldn't stand Apocalypse. His 90's storylines were complete and utter fucking trash. So it's nice to see him actually have a interesting story. A sad tale that pushed him to become the monster we all know, and a much needed backstory.

Hickman and his crew of X-Men writers are single handily cleaning up all the garbage X-Men characters and making them interesting/useful. It is so nice. Give me more baby.

Well this was a long, disturbing, and weird as shit book but I'm kind of glad I read it as I learned a lot about a person I never knew about despite being extremely famous in Japan.

This is about Yozo Oba, a young man who you grow with from his childhood to adult years. A weak person who always worries about others thinking of him as something, well, not human. And so he plays the part, acts a certain way, to make sure he is liked. But in doing so he alienates and destroys the people around him. Suicided, murder, betrayal, so much this person Oba does to only end up hurting everyone around him.

The idea of this book is great. There's moments that are horrifying. Not in the supernatural way you might be used to with Junji Ito but more realistic and horrible human nature horror. And in the end the opening few chapters are fantastic, heavy, and disturbing. As we get further into Oba's life, it starts to feel lost on what story it wants to tell. The plot feels halted without any clear reason to drag on storylines. I get the drug storyline and why it's important but the needlessly endless pages of tripping just didn't work for me. The extra scenes of relationships to only barely be mentioned later felt pointless as well.

Still, it is a very intriguing book. The art is fantastic, and when it IS good it's great. I just wish more of it fit the great part of it. A 3.5 out of 5.

The finish of the Goldy Pond arc.

It's a vicious fight as all the kids must work together to take out just one demon. This monster is the ALpha hunter and it won't be easy. He's taken out so many kids so far that now Emma and crew will have to use all their wit and strength to overcome it. This whole volume is just one gigantic battle scene save the last two chapters but it is damn entertaining throughout.

I really enjoyed this arc and while the ending felt a bit safe I am intrigued how we move to the next part. I like how each arc feels different. First being a escape arc, second a mystery, 3rd a survival, I am eager to see what awaits us now.

A 4 out of 5.
