The Plot is the next big horror comic!

Actually, horror comics in general have been rocking lately. If haven't seen it yet, check out my review on Something Is Killing the Children and Sink, both highly recommended horror comics that recently came out.

So the Plot has a interesting enough set up. A husband and wife celebrate their big success one night and when they get home are assaulted by a monster. Soon after their children go to live with their uncle, but the creatures that haunted the parents don't stop. They want, they need, you must give to receive. And so when we go into this backwoods type town we have characters like Chase (The uncle) his niece and nephew, Reese, and more. Building a family drama on some spooky haunted Gothic type horror.

Overall, this was pretty great. The strongest part of it all is the dialogue, which is so human, I thought I was watching a TV show or movie at points. The art is also fantastic, showcasing emotions on multiple characters, creepy as hell monsters, and excellent atmosphere. The story itself is well paced and even with some huge cliches, and a ending that is more "COME ON!", it's very much worth reading.

A 4.5 out of 5.

This was actually pretty fun.

Frank is on a new mission to kill baddies, nothing new there. However, he meets a Super villain on his hunt and let's just say this one has a certain spark to him that Frank might not be able to handle. On top of that you got a rag tag group of Mercs after Frank and this time the Punisher might have met his match.

What works here is Frank is actually pretty funny. Brooding but not always, with a lot of good lines and actually shows he cares at points. The art is on point, with some really cool gun fights and use of coloring here. I also enjoyed the pacing as it was super quick paced. I mean it's not a work of art but for pure entertainment, this is one of the better Punisher comics I read.

A 3.5 out of 5. I'll round it to a 4.

This was meh.

Basically Frank fights a whole shit load of villains but unlike the last volume where I felt scared for Frank when he went against the Sentry, I never feared for him here. It's just average fights with a crappy version of the Hood. Remender is a extremely talented writer but this is overall weak. Even the art is just okay.

Doom is back and he ain't too happy.

Actually, this book is pretty funny.

So nobody seems to take Doom seriously. Even newscaster are making him feel "little" and that's just not right. Doom is trying to run his country while warning people their plans to expand to space isn't going to work. But when a bunch of missiles from his country go after and hit a space station, killing hundreds, everyone is after him. Will he be able to clear his name, or will he just say fuck you and kill everyone?

This was a cool twist on Doom. He's funny, a asshole, but he also feels different. A man who has done so much he just wants to live his life out. But being chased by people, pretty much everyone, is both scary and fun. Doom ain't no bitch and he won't let his name get smeared. So all of that is fun, and it is even a bit trippy. The ending is a bit wtf but that's my only real negative. A 4 out of 5.

House of X is also great this week as we see the X-Men go on a mission to stop the future of Nimrod. We also get Emma in all her glory showing she is not to be fucked with as she retrieves Sabertooth for the human courts. The ending leaves you off in a cliffhanger that'll make you go "NOOOO" but damn am I excited.

Another great issue. Absolute Carnage just has to keep being this good to be the best event in years for Marvel.

So Spider-man and Venom were last trapped in a prison with the crazy psycho Carnage and all his minions. Will they break out? That's the big question the starts this issue. We also get Miles as a true hero in this volume but things aren't going to well for him when all the carnage mini's attack him. Things are heating up, everyone is getting taken over, and our heroes might not win this one without some losses.

Goddamn...I loved this final issue. Even leaving it up in the air that we could revisit this world. Full review of the entire mini series coming soon!

Not a fan of this book sadly.

It starts off interesting enough where the group Young Justice is trying to clear their name. However, once kid magic whatever the fuck his name is comes into the picture things get messy. He basically uses his powers to transfer all the adults into teenagers and all the teenagers into adults, and all the older people into tiny children...so this is just basically having mentors watch their sidekicks become heroes.

But that's the thing. This could be great. There's issues that work like with Bruce and Tim, and even Superboy and Superman, but a lot of them miss. I didn't understand the point of this crossover, and it's wayyyyyy too goofy to take serious at all. Also the art is ALL over the place in this volume.

Overall, a weak book hurt by a mega crossover with a few decent spots. A 2 out of 5.

Curse of the White Knight had big shoes to fill as White Knight was praised as being something fresh and fun for Batman. Did it? Well...

This is the story of Azrael. It is a bit odd that it's called "Curse of the white knight" but it mostly comes down to Joker being the one who sets this all up. So it is thanks to Joker Azrael finds out the truth about his family line and the Waynes. He targets Batman, and he knows his secrets, and with his "friends" he decides to take down the Bat and all his family and friends. This story is far more focused on the Dark Knight himself and his trails and tribulations. Will he outsmart Azrael or is this the end?

I'll say this, Sean Murphy art is still great. The action flows so well, the movements are near perfect, and the atmosphere is wonderfully done. On top of that he holds nothing back as this is his universe and so that lets major characters get killed off. This makes everything feel more dangerous as batman is having a tough time stopping Azrael plans. On top of that the Joker does play a supporting role here and Harley returns in a interesting way. There's some great emotional beats as well as action, and while the pacing seemed off at parts and the backstory to the waynes abit boring if I'm being honest, I enjoyed this followup a lot.

Not sure which I'd say is better but both White Knight and Cruse are solid standalone Batman stories worth reading. A 4 out of 5.

After an insainly good last volume this feels a bit of a let down but it still hits some high notes.

This is the final confrontation with the red. Obviously a big bad comes along and ruins everything, killing even some of the most powerful totems of the Red. So now Animal man and Animal girl (His daughter) are the only two who can stop him. But first Animal man gets taken away into space to meet a new god, while his daughter is on the run from the new bad. Will he save her in time? Will she be able to fight back!? See it here folks!

This is pretty enjoyable in the sense of a big showdown. There's some crazy ass fights here, lots of bloody results, and some heartfelt moments that work. The strongest issue is the last as it focuses on the heart and soul of the characters and that's where Lemire shines. The lore and world building feels rushed here and this new "god" seems like a sequel was being made but never happened.

Overall, this is good, but not as good as the last volume sadly. A 3.5 out of 5.
