Really enjoyed this one a lot. When they wrote it I have a feeling they said the number one thing to write here has to be fun, and it was.
listen 90% of people have no fucking clue who shazam is. To introduce him in a modern and fun way was smart. The cast was enjoyable and all fun characters. The art was insainly good to boot. Sure the conclusion felt a little to quick but this self contained story is a must read for comic fans.

I find some of it padding to get to the next area but man oh man the emotional feels and interactions with each other is great. Also the art is pretty stunning to look at it. Overall it's easy to see why it's one of my favorite ongoing comics atm.
Jumbled and boring this story did nothing for me. Eager to learn more about iron fist before his show I grabbed this collection. By the creator of an amazing run on Hawkeye I was so ready. This shit was confusing and boring with some decent fight scenes thrown in. My advice is to get on sale or borrow.
My honest review is it felt more of a spin-off than anything. Badass unit of hunters killing the monsters, sound familiar eh? Still, it wasn't bad. John remains a interesting main lead just like the other 3 titles. I really did enjoy some side characters while others felt a little to forced. Overall by the end I was happy but kind of felt empty. Like I feel we could have pushed the storyline even more, throw in better twist, but it was a fun read and I'll no doubt grab the next.
I strongly advise if you got this far you have to remember this is not the Superman you know or love. This is a different take. I see a lot of people comparing, which I think is wrong to do.
However, is this a good take? That's 50/50 for me. It's not horrible by any means but it does play by the books. I like the idea of it more than the execution. I feel like we should go deeper into him dealing with everyday issues over fighting a big bad every issue which sums up with a big battle in the city and destroying half of it (probably killing thousands) so overall I don't know why they keep doing this.
I also hate the pacing. It's either too fast, or too much talking about something that isn't very interesting. There's moments of greatness in here (losing powers/cat story) but so much gets in the way of fully loving it. For the great art and stunning moments I'd give this a 2.5 so we'll go with a 3.

This is by far the best volume of the series so far. It gets a solid 3 if not a 3.4. The art is once again nice, and I liked the idea of Lex a lot (Though not the final outcome) I also loved the moments with Clark and his mother in this volume, very well done. We also got deeper into Clark and who he is, and what makes him different than the previous incarnations of this character. I just wish the villain could have been better like all the other volumes but a fun 3-arc story so far and would def pick up volume 4 whenever it comes out.
More like a 3.5 but really enjoyable. it's a little to safe for my taste at times. However the art is top notch and I like some of the characters and how they're different from earth 52. I'll keep reading for it's a promising start.
What if DC gave you all their characters and said "Do what you want"? Injustice is just that. Fuck the rules, anyone can die, good and bad lines are crossed out for a lot of grey. I loved reading this because it was "FUN". The mass murdering, personality splitting, could turn some old school fans off. However, the way they craft the characters with motives that aren't pure "good" and "bad" is very interesting.
I didn't love a certain death closer to the end of the book but besides that I felt the stakes were set really well here and made me want to read volume 2 right away. I better go on and grab year 2-4 so I don't miss out on anything for this badass series.

Very enjoyable at parts but so many moments that felt forced because of the placement of the comic. Biggest one is Luke vs BF and you know Luke has never see. him before in empire. so they make Luke blind for the fight. That felt dumb. Also Luke somehow even remotely holding his own against Vader was a joke. Still, it was a fun easy read for the most part that left enough cliffhangers to make me want to read the next.
Reading through most of this was a chore. Why is it I can't find a DC character in the comics that I can love. Oliver is dull and repetitive and the storyline goes nowhere. Some cool art is the only thing helping this otherwise by the numbers book out.
