Elk's run is a dark look into a community cut off from the world but nothing is going very well and the community is about to collapse.
We see a family who is very broken. A son who hates his father, and dislikes his living conditions, with a community very tightly closed off from the world. When it begins to see why they're closed off our main hero decides to get the fuck out of the town. However, when cops get murdered, the hunt is on to find the kids, and shit is about to go down in a dangerous way.
Good: The feel of dread felt throughout the whole story is great. I actually enjoyed a lot of the character's interactions and also the mysterious aura around the city really gives off a creepy and sad vibe.
Bad: Didn't like the art all that much. Sometimes hard to tell what happened. I also thought the backstories could have used a extra issue or two to really get connected.
Overall a dreary and well done tale. If it had better art it could have been great. Still worth checking out. A 3 out of 5.

When I picked this up I was pretty excited, so I can't help but feel a bit let down. Thankfully though, this duo still delivers a solid story just not one I hoped for.
This is a story of a woman who's in rehab. Right away she begins to link herself to old musicians and their drug habits. Then she tricks a man into falling in love with her. Sad part is she is actually falling for him as well. By the end you'd think this runaway couple might be together forever but the whole time you know the sinister motive of our main "hero".
Good: The art is once again great. Always is. The story is well balanced, and even with the twist, it works in a lot of ways. The hero of this story might be the villain but there's a lot of gray in this title so it works on a few levels.
Bad: The characters really didn't connect with me. I wanted to like them more. Also, it's short, and so you'll be done in less than 20 minutes and probably forget about most of the story/character beats sadly.
Overall it's a solid, interesting, tale of crime and betrayal. I just didn't think it stuck out more than it COULD have. A 3 out of 5.

What a odd volume. First off, the cover spoils the twist. SO we find out who Twlight is...guess who? OH He's ON THE COVER!!! Then we have Buffy and Angel with super saiyan like powers. That's right. They've basically become Superman and Wonder Woman. So what do they do? They fight and then they fuck. A lot. I mean banging all around the world creating near earthquakes. Oh and a surprise return, but not really surprise, of another character. Really, besides some funny jokes here and there and cool fight moments, this isn't a very good volume. Trying TOO big and TOO much. Twilight fails to capture what made Buffy special. Season 8 started off strong but damn...it's gone downhill. A 2 out of 5.
Even Tom Taylor can't save this one.
What starts off as a pretty fun story about Superman and Batman teaming up and Lobo chasing them slowly becomes a tad boring by the end. However, the main issue (get it? Issues...okay) would be the messy death of superman storyline where only get a bit of it. You're missing HUGE junks of it between it all. On top of that we get a Frank Terri story which is just okay. Like...honestly I can see why it was never published.
Overall this is just not really worth it. Tom's story is solid on it's own but with the rest? It's pretty crappy. A 2 out of 5.

JUSTICE! What a generic title. I'm not even a fan of Alex Ross (Gasp! I know!) So I was expecting very little but instead got a whole lot.
So it starts off with easily one of the best first issues in a series (least for me) I read for DC in awhile. It's all the heroes trying to save people but all failing miserably. The world is going up in flames, like everything is being destroyed, and you see every major hero trying their best and dying. The saddest being Flash who believes he saved people but obviously not and even Aquaman's "Don't go into the water. You'll burn to death" after seeing his people and animals fried in the water. It's horrific yet sets the tone right away. Then the following two large issues in here discuss who's narrating and giving the super villains their time to shine as they one by one pick off the heroes and either kidnap them or take them out of the picture. Justice league no more.
Good: The first issue is damn good and gets you sucked in right away. To see heroes fail is both sad and interesting. The following issues give a good story and interesting outlook on it all. Alex Ross, as I mentioned before, isn't one of my favorites but the destruction scenes are amazing and really set the tone well.
Bad: Some pacing issues, one with Aquaman, gives is a slower pace than needed. I get the build up but the slowness could have moved it faster a little.
Overall, this was fantastic. Feeling very similar to Kingdom Come or Injustice, this is a darker look on our world. One worth checking out. A 4 out of 5.

Fantastic Four by Jonathan Hickman, Vol. 4
Steve Epting, Nick Dragotta, Mark Brooks, Jonathan Hickman
"So this is it? A Billion to one. You think I'm afraid of that? YOU THINK I'M AFRAID OF THAT!? FLAME ON!!!"
Goddamn goosebumps throughout the later half of this volume.
So this is basically three storylines going on at once. We have Reed dealing with the dead Galactus from a different time period and going with the modern day one to find out what happened. Then we have Sue dealing with the underwater empire, while also dealing with Namor's crazy horny ass. Last but not least we have a breach at the Baxter building and these creatures are getting in and now it's up to Johnny, Ben, and the fantastic four foundation kids to stop them!
Good: Sue's story is actually really good and the end results aren't only interesting but super fun. Ben becoming human for a week is wonderful and gives the dude much needed relief time. Johnny has a few great moments, one mentioning he wants kids more than anything, and of course plenty of funny moments. However, I won't spoil what happens here, but goddamn there's a moment I quoted above that sent chills down my spine. So epic. Oh and the last issue is a silent one all the way to the very end and it's truly amazing how well it's done. Both sad and heartfelt, one of the best issues in the series or any series.
Bad: Some of Reed's stuff wasn't as interesting as the rest.
Overall this is fantastic. For a series where I mostly thought was good but not great I was getting a bit worried this would never click for me. Luckily it did, and I was blown away. A very very very easy 5 out of 5.

Ugh...hoping season 9 is better.
This about a guy trying to figure out how to set up a hiest so he can go back to be with the girl of his dreams after leaving her while she was preggo. Honestly, the idea is great, but the storytelling drags and drags with nothing really happening. I wish I could recommend this but it's a boring storyline, with a somewhat happy ending, that didn't feel earned. I can't give this much higher than a 2 out of 5. Art is solid enough.
Was good but the New52 Batwoman did it better. Still fun, the art is great, but the story didn't grab me like that series. Sorry for short reviews, just been busy, but still worth checking out to learn about Batwoman!
