I listened to the audiobook version, and aside from wanting to have a print copy to read some of the sections over again, and look up the texts that Carmen references throughout, I can't imagine reading this another way. Carmen's voice carries you through her experiences in an abusive queer relationship effortlessly, with pain and precision. I will be thinking about this book for a long time.

3.5 stars. Needed something easy and cozy to read while listening to In The Dream House. I am still waiting for a cozy mystery series (aside from Ellen Hart's Jane Lawless series) to have a queer protagonist and not just queer side characters.
