It was okay - the mysteries and the whys kept me reading but I wasn't engrossed. Loved all the references to mythology.

August 2023 - looking back this may have put me in a reading slump :(

Did it take me to the final page to figure out the title? Yes, yes it did.
I saw this on a table at waterstones years ago and I'm just now buying it and reading it, and boy why did I wait so long?
This story follows PC Peter Grant when he causally bumps into a ghost who wants to give a witness statement. From there you're thrust into a world of magic and intrigue, accompanied by the wittiest writing I've read since skullduggery pleasant.

The art is so gorgeous - I can't wait to read more. I'm itching to get to the end of the second volume since that's where my knowledge ends

Amazing artwork again!! I loved the back story and how quickly usagi has matured. Looking forward to continuing the manga

Of course its a classic. The reason why it's 4 stars is purely based on the Queen and butler characters - no nonsense queen.

Really lovely message behind education / prejudice on how somebody speaks between thr BFG and Sophie

I started reading this last year, and didn't enjoy it. But then I pick it up again a couple chapters in and I couldn't put it down! I read the rest of the book (3/4 of it probably) within a few days.

I love the film, and now I love the book. I had to stop comparing the book to the film and just enjoy it as its own tale!

Sophie and Howl - they have a funny relationship. It's hinted at throughout the book that Sophie starts to like howl, but honestly nothing goes on romantically between them. Howl does ask Sophie what to do for the hat shop and she listens, aside from that I didn't see anything romantic? Though it was a sweet ending.

The way Sophie breaks the spell is clear in the book whereas the film was more hazy with it. I loved the elements of magic and how sassy Howl was, so good.
