I read Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom before I started on this. I didn't know I should have read this first and only started it because I found out the show was coming to Netflix. I was so surprised at how into this book series I was. I think seeing the trailer helped me get into it more than if I had started reading it without it. I am not someone who sees an extravagant movie in their head when I read and so I normally look up fanart for a book before starting so I have something in my head to think about.
I absolutely devoured this book and read it in less than 24 hours. It's an easy read that doesn't take a lot to get into. You get sucked in right away into the world. The characters are amazing (except for Mal). I know I am not supposed to like the Darkling (his name is the Darkling that has to tell you something) but my tall dark and handsome alarm went off and I fell for him for sure. I don't care if he's supposed to be evil because, if I was Alina I would have gone right back to my room and ruled as his queen. What can I say, I always love the murderers...

I think this book was my favourite of the trilogy almost. I really don't like Mal still so I still would choose to be with the Darkling if I was Alina, but at least this book gives us Nikolai. I don't normally go for the blonde love interest, but out of the three love interests in this book, he is the only sane choice. Again this book was really easy to read and I read it just as fast as Shadow and Bone. I love the way Leigh Bardugo writes her novels and she always wins with her witty dialog. She has become one of my ride or die authors and I will always buy her books as soon as they come out. I am taking a break from the Grishaverse while I catch up on some other novels but I can't wait to dive back in and read King of Scars and Rule of Wolves.
Again I loved this book but I did not like the ending. I don't think Alina should have ended up with Mr. "I am become a blade". I know it ended up being what Alina wanted but it just fell short for me. I really liked Nikolai and his character went through so much between Siege and Storm and this book. I honestly can't wait to read King of Scars and Rule of Wolves, and I am glad his story isn't ending right in this book.
I actually really liked that Mal ended up being an amplifier. Looking back on how Alina originally discovered her power it made way more sense.
Even though the Darkling was evil (and let's be honest he his a fantastic villain), I was still hoping that Alina would somehow save him by the end of the series. I don't normally get sad reading books but even I misted up and his ending scene.
I would definitely read these books again in the future and I can't wait to see what they do with this series and the Netflix adaptation. I've already watched season 1 and it was fantastic.

I absolutely adore this book. I watched the movie first and then found out that it was a book and had to read it. I laughed and I cried all throughout this book. It is a book that I will reread every so often because it's just that good. I normally don't read contemporary novels but I love love this book.
I devoured it in a little over a day when I first read it.

This whole series was my ride or die books when I was in middle school. I think the whole series is basically nostalgia at this point but I was so excited when I found the series at a second hand store and I had to buy it. I reread the whole thing in a few days back to back and I still loved it just as much as back then. These books have a permanent spot on my book shelf.
