The history of England = major Philomena Cunk vibes, absolute, genius
The rest was mostly fine, bit hard to rate unfinished work, still worth a read imo
But alas, I'm off to faint onto a couch

Cute lil' children's stories, mostly fables, with a very recognizable style of illustrations.

It really shows that this was originally an ongoing webcomic: so many of the plotlines weren't built up well(Charlie's detailed mental issues) some felt like they came out of the blue(Charlie's parents/mum) or barely mentioned(Elle's Egyptian heritage).
Important topics were brought up but they ended up feeling too much and not explored as thoroughly as they should've been. I understand that's also because of the medium; still I believe A.O. has bitten off more than they could chew.
Another thing is that this volume (and some of the 3rd as well) are so tonally different from the beginning of the series, it sorta felt alienating...

I'm glad we're getting to know the side characters better in this one, it was 'bout time. Second book I still preferred, I wish the more serious stuff wasn't included here because it's not done well. Everything else is sweet and all, setting's fine but I also don't necessarily care for Paris, so that's that, lol

I've read "The sun and all her flowers" first and either there was some development in the writing or the topics were just more interesting to me in that one.
Had I picked up "Milk and honey" beforehand I would've never touched another Kaur-collection...sorry....

I am soooo conflicted. I cannot in good conscience give this book a better rating...I REALLY wanted to like it but uhh...my brain was melting while reading it.
This is an extremely slow start to the series, lots of information yet there's somehow even more things left unsaid and unclear. The characters are all two-faced and full of secrets, refuse to communicate - which wouldn't necessarily be a problem but it was just a lot, since it's not what I expected at all.
This is a very heavy book to read (tbh, could've been a good 100+ pages shorter), NOT a fun ride, one has to put time and brain power into consuming it.
I'll have to wait with continuing the sequels but also I am admittedly very intrigued to know what the fuck is happening because BOY was there a lot in here...
PS.: I ain't joking with the CWs, I might even have left out some, bruh

Rosette got on my nerves in the beginning but the dynamic of the characters is starting to grow on me.
Also, excited and scared to see what's going on with the demons n shit
