I enjoyed this a lot! Only not rated higher as it probably won't all stick with me in the way other books have done as it doesn't touch me emotionally in the same way. But then it's not supposed too. Still enjoyed it a lot for what it was and was lovely pootleing about with it on. Would like to read the rest of the set now too.

Found it really hard to review this book. It was very difficult to get through at the beginning particularly. Truly harrowing and deeply sad. But still think the story was well written and it was a really difficult topic to explore which Allen-Agostini did really powerfully. Her narration of the audiobook was brilliant and added nuance, intonation and flow which I could have missed otherwise.
In some ways I feel like it should be rated higher, but at the same time it left me emotionally drained at times and I wouldn't recommend it to friends unless they read similar content or show a particular interest.
Edit: have moved this up to a 4 star, as the story and narrator really stuck with me, and might even reread at some point, so many emotions with this book hard to know how I feel about it, but feel like 4 stars is fairer and solid.

Had me in tears multiple times, I love the exploration of friendship, grief and of the neurodivergent experience. Similarly how the ideas of AI in the near future and the ethics surrounding it are examined. What it means to be you. A great introduction into complex ethical and philosophical ideas in a digestible way. Very immersive read yet again. Nearly rated this 5* but think A kind of spark has the edge.

One of my favourite books ever I think! Utterly brilliant, so insightfully done, told with a brilliantly powerful and sensitive autistic voice. Will be reading the rest of Elle McNicholls works ASAP.
