Complicated characters who I did not often love, but for who I always wanted to know what happened next! I loved how vibrant and lively this story was and how much it taught me! 

Write a book about a rebellious female pirate society but perpetuate stereotypes of female niaveity for humour? Loved the parts where the characters were supposed to be fighting a battle or saving an Aunt, but it seemed the author forgot and decided they should have sex instead... 
I want to give it more credit but never rolled my eyes so much. 

This book requires a lot of concentration because it is quite a complicated and introspective view. However it is definitely worth the effort for the incredible descriptions of life without language. As a linguist, it was particularly insightful and interesting to discover more about language history and philosophy. 

I loved the concept of this book - providing some insight into serious contemporary debates. The story was gripping, the language was unique to literature, the plot was driven by emotions. However, I could not relate to many of the character decisions and I felt quite distanced from their perspectives.

This book was a little unhinged for Emily Henry I felt very conflicted towards the main characters, the friendships were quite unhealthy, and the events were very unpredictable (in that it got strange)
