Still need to collect my feelings and cram them into words, but one thing I will say is that after finishing the book, I listened to a bit of the audiobook out of curiosity.

Zachary Webber in particular did an incredible job as Daniel. The emotion he put into his voice during the more emotional parts of the story felt so real. I’m tempted to experience this story again just to hear him read all of Daniel’s chapters.

Half a Soul is not without its flaws, but it's magical and entertaining enough to haul me out of the trenches of a reading slump. I say this with full knowledge of my immense bias that was nurtured by banter and my guilty pleasure (a love interest who hides their angst behind deflections and snark).

Set in a small town with a mystery hidden in the backdrop of its history, The Memory Eater is a creative exploration of grief, trauma, and what it means to move forward—for not just Alana, but for all of those whose histories are woven into the fabric of Whistler Beach.
