A book beyond it's time.
I first came across Jasvinder Sanghera in the TED talk she did on "Fighting Forced Marriages and Honour Based Abuse" and I was immediately fascinated and left with numerous questions on the subject matter as well as Sanghera's journey.
So, I brought it upon myself to read this book for more insight. I love this book and the way Sanghera highlights the ignorance of the subject and further validates the importance of it through talking about the journey of Karma Nirvana as well as her struggles to come to terms with her personal situation and the situation of others who seek out her help. This book really impacts my thought on the subject matter and even informed me on issues that I wasn't fully aware of.
Therefore, I definitely plan to gain more insight into her progress by hopefully reading her other books in the near future.

I decided to take a trip down memory lane and re-read this book whilst I was in between work. The way Anne Frank expresses herself captivates you to the point where you develop an emotional attachment. She isn't afraid to speak her mind and her truth and I feel that it was one of her most powerful qualities as a writer. I recommend this book to anyone. It's a life lesson for all that teaches us to value the freedom of living the life that we can live without any fear of oppression.
I LOVE THIS BOOK! I seriously couldn't put it down. It does take a while for me to get into a book, especially when it comes to setting the main story but this book in particular handled that really really well. I was so engaged with everyone's personalities and how they changed throughout the course of the story as well as how everyone else's personal stories were affected by the main arc. This book is so raw and personal and really makes you question how you view people in certain lights. I also personally love how I could relate to this book with it's reflection on the LGBT+ community and women's rights!
