Honestly, this one needed to be fluffed out more. It was too vague to hold my attention, and the ending was far too abrupt. There's zero resolution and it didn't make any sense.
Nothing super revolutionary or interesting about this one. A white, British missionary visits West Africa in the nineteenth century, and has to deal with all that entails. The ending was super random, and I'm still not entirely sure what happened there.
A pretty good read, glad it was short, but it didn't really get me going.

That was straight up terrifying - like....what just happened!? How...who....WHAT?
The emotional whiplash on this one is top tier. Absolutely recommend for a quick historical fiction.
I wanted more. It just - ended. Even a few more pages would have been nice.
It was fine - nothing wrong with it persay but a little far fetched for me.
Cute if not a little predictable. Complete with third act breakup that you 100% see coming.
What a fun read! Definitely some Agatha Christie-esque vibes going on, but I still enjoyed trying to figure it out! I was close in the end.
I really enjoyed this one! Fun world building, some good characters, and plot twists!
Do not judge this book by my rating. I don't like historical fiction and I STRUGGLED with this. It's so long (576 pages) that even in audio and multitasking I kept getting bored.
