So hard to put into words how great this book is. Beyond an entertaining story idea, there are so many layers of interpretation and satire. Even just the one word of the title can be interpreted in so many different ways. LOVE.
In a word: devastating. Read if you want your heart to break a thousand times.
A light beach read, but with a blatant feminist current throughout. Exactly what I needed for a day on the beach.
I knew from all of the reviews that there wasn’t much plot, so that didn’t bother me as much as how condescendingly cerebral this book was. That being said, there is some really beautiful wording, particularly around what love feels like, the study of language, and being in a foreign environment. (I also appreciated the descriptions of Boston/Cambridge.)
