This book is obviously about Captain Kidd, and was pretty informative. I was really interested in pirates briefly and got several books about pirates. It was not as interesting as I had hoped it would be. It was an okay book, but it was a little boring in parts.

I listened to this book on Audible, because it was included with my membership. I usually enjoy memoirs, especially ones with a criminal aspect to it. I think it is a shame that sex work is stigmatized and illegal, but I hate that girls are enticed into sex work by pimps and madams. This was an interesting book. It had never really occurred to me how one gets involved in pimping out people. I suppose after reading this, one can see why the lifestyle would appeal to someone. I personally would not recommend buying this book, but it wasn't disappointing since it was free for me to listen to.

This was the last book in the Bloodlands collection that I had left to read, so I finished it this morning. It was only about an hour long, just like the others and was included in the Audible Plus catalog, which I loved. This particular story was about Charlie Schmid, a weird serial murderer, who was active during the Free Love era. He was a strange character and really put me in mind of a Charlie Manson sort of guy. He had women that were super into him, though I can't really see what the appeal was. It was an interesting story, and I would recommend this and the rest of the series for anyone looking for short listens on Audible.

I feel bad for saying this, but I LOVED this book. Cupcake Brown was orphaned at a young age, almost the age that my daughter is now, and placed into foster care. The foster home she was placed in was an extremely abusive situation. She ran away and found herself drowning in a world of drugs, alcohol, prostitution, gangbanging, etc. She eventually was able to get herself into a better situation, and learning about all of her struggles and the fact that she was able to go through so much at such a young age and make a life for herself was so inspiring to me. I highly recommend this book!!

This book is the personal wartime account of Wladyslaw Szpilman, who was a pianist on Polish Radio. He played piano over the radio while bombs were falling outside. That was the last time the radio station had a broadcast for the duration of the war. He managed to survive the war, saved by a German officer who heard him playing a piano he found in the wreckage of the city. I hate saying negative things about books like this and about people's personal experiences. It seems so rude to do, but I really found this book hard to read. I could not stay interested in it at all. I wanted to love it, but I just didn't.

This book is written by a former girlfriend of serial killer Ted Bundy. She was in a relationship with him for six years, and has an interesting take on the crimes and the relationship with this heinous person that we have all come to know through various books, documentaries, and podcasts. There were parts of this book that I found slightly dull, and I also found myself annoyed by her naivety. However, I tried to remind myself during those moments that he was able to fool a lot more people than just her, and that victims of narcissistic people behave and react in different ways than one would assume. Her insight is extremely valuable. I was looking for a different book entirely, and this one popped up in my suggestions on Audible. I am glad that I picked it up. It was very good.

I got this book on Audible, mostly because I watched the documentary (I think it was on Netflix or Hulu) about Jeffrey Epstein and this whole nasty case. I would have rated this a solid four stars, because the research and the telling of the story and facts was well done. I really struggled with this book because the reader's voice on Audible was warbly and irritating. My suggestion would be to read a physical or digital copy, and not listen to the Audible version. I am very curious to see how subsequent cases play out, especially in regards to Prince Andrew. It is just disgusting how many people have been implicated in this fiasco, and how many girls lives were tainted by these people.

I have watched this movie many times over the years, and enjoy it very much. I was not aware that it was an actual book, which is strange since I like Sebastian Junger's work very much. This book is well researched. It is nothing so fantastical and dramatized as the movie. It provided a lot of information on the storm itself, a combination of forces that created a particularly violent storm that hit the Eastern coast in October of 1991. This book tells the story of the Andrea Gail , a swordfish boat, and her crew. I cannot imagine being out on the open sea in a little boat in the middle of a storm like that. I think that people do not understand the life of fishermen and the hazards they face, especially if you do not grow up or live in a commercial fishing communities. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoyed the movie.

I had never heard about this, which shocked me because I was very into horses as a kid. Some American soldiers wound up catching a German spy who spilled the beans about some stolen horses from the Spanish Riding School in Vienna. They were determined to save these priceless horses before the Russians came in and slaughtered them for food. This was a really dramatic tale, and I learned a lot about these events. I would recommend this book for both horse lovers and war buffs.

I remember when this case first hit the news. I followed it, and was absolutely disgusted by this man. I recently watched the documentary that is out about this case, and was disgusted all over again by this man. I follow some book accounts on Instagram, and this book popped up a few times. I decided to get this with my Audible credit, just to see if there were any details that I had not previously read. It gave a much more detailed back story on both parties. It also included things that were not mentioned in the documentary and that I had not read during the investigation and court hearings. This man is complete trash, and I feel sorry that his parents have to know that they have three missing grandchildren because their son is sorry as all get out. I feel terrible for the other side of the family, most of all. I cannot imagine. It is also very revolting to me that there are women writing him love letters in prison and that his mistress has resumed contact with him. Vile. I would recommend this book for anyone interested in this case. It had a lot of good details and information in it.
