This book is the story of Jennings Michael Burch, who was abandoned and placed into the foster care system. It does not shock me in the least that he went through these horrific abusive experiences, because there are so many people who have shared stories like this. There are so many parents who have their biological children taken away simply because they treat them the same as is described in this book, or worse. I have seen some complaints about the writing style of this book, but the tone in which he spoke did not bother me. I thought this was a very insightful book into what life in the foster care system has been and could be like for many children. It is eye opening, for sure.

I ran into this book on Twitter, and ordered it as soon as it was released. I love reading about the Victorian Age, and I was really looking forward to reading this. I didn't really know a lot about the history of Freak Shows and Circus performers, and this book had a lot of information about it. It was well written and very entertaining. I really enjoyed hearing the stories of specific performers. This was a really good read.

I wanted to love this book, but I didn't. I thought it was boring. I would like to visit Myrtles Plantation one day though to put a place with all of the interesting history that was mentioned in the book. I wish that it would have been more engaging though.

I highly recommend this book. I never learned anything about slaves and the White House the entire time that I was in school, not even in college. I just happened to read something about it on an article and searched for books. This book was extremely eye opening and informative. I learned so much about the construction of the White House and those who participated in it.

This book was well written and well researched. I was not terribly impressed with the book based on the content. I do not think that it was the writing style or anything, but I just dislike the character of Wallis Simpson and the Duke of Windsor. I feel like she was a conniving, manipulative, gold digging person. I just had a hard time reading about someone I have such a low opinion of.

This is the personal account of a daughter, who was consistently and repeatedly saved by her mother throughout the Nazi occupation in Europe. This was such a personal and moving story. It really makes you appreciate what your parents can sacrifice for you. I loved this story. I think everyone should read it.

This book was an in depth look at the Tet Offensive. It wasn't a very large book, but it had a lot of information in it. I bought this book to branch out a little from the usual war books that I read, and also to learn about the area and battle that my grandfather participated in. It was a good read.

I really like Dan Jones. All of his work is well researched, and this one was no exception. The History Channel has a show based on this called Knightfall, but it does not do this book justice at all. This book was packed full of information, without being overwhelming. I learned so much about The Templars. I hope Dan Jones continues to put out more work.

This book is written by Emily Craig, and details her career. I think she has had an amazingly interesting career. She worked as a medical illustrator, which I did not even know was a career. That was very neat. She worked on the Branch Davidians who were killed at the Waco siege, which really interested me since I have read a lot about Waco. She also helped work on the Oklahoma City Bombing case, which I remember happening as a child and have read about since then. She worked on those from the World Trade Center attacks on September 11, 2001, which I remember very clearly. I enjoyed reading about her work. This was a great book!

This book has fairly high reviews, and I feel a little bad about only giving it two stars. I didn't really enjoy the writing, but the story itself was moving. How could anyone read the story of a survivor of something so horrible and not be moved? This person endured incredible hardship and overcame, and that is courageous and inspirational. I am glad that so many other people have read and appreciated this story. It is so vital to have people brave enough to tell the truths about events like this, in hopes that people will sit up and take notice and prevent such things from continuing to occur.
