This book is about a woman, Jennifer Teege, who happened upon a book in the library with photos of her mother and grandmother in it. She discovered that her maternal grandfather was none other than Amon Goeth, the concentration camp commandant who was cruel and murderous. Her story of discovery was moving and appalling all at the same time. I really enjoyed this book, and I am very grateful to my sister for giving me this book as a gift.

This was a very interesting book. The writer, Lucinda Franks, began to get the details of her father's wartime activities when he was in his later years of life. He was actually a spy during World War II, and it was really cool to hear his story. It was also really sad because he had kept this amazing story from his family for his whole life, and then shared it with them when he was beginning to suffer from Alzheimer's Disease. It was tragic to think of that, and wonder what older amazing memories his family might not ever know. I would highly recommend this book.

This book was very interesting. I have unfortunately not been able to get my hands on too many books about children of the well known members of the Nazi party, but I am trying to remedy that. This book showed the lives and personalities of some of the children, and that was very interesting to me. I cannot imagine growing up in World War II, on any side, and then having to reconcile that my parent had a hand in these terrible images and acts that you must see as you get older. I thought this was a good read.

This is the personal account of how a teenager wound up joining a well known gang in Chicago. Gangs are prevalent all over the United States, and people often try to list reasons why people join them. It was really interesting to read about it from a first hand perspective.

This is the personal account of Jack Murphy, who tells how he decided to become a special forces operator. His experiences during training and during deployments was very inspiring, sometimes scary, and sometimes funny. I really enjoyed this story. I also enjoyed the author reading the book on Audible.

This book tells the story of a fifteen year old boy that had not spoken in eight years. He was deeply troubled and trapped in his world. I thought the persistence of the author to make a connection with a child that everyone else considered hopeless was very moving and commendable. I always liked the books by this author, and this one isn't any different.

This book is about a gruesome crime committed at the Lululemon store in Bethesda, Maryland in 2011. Brittany Norwood murdered her coworker Jayna Murray, because Murray caught her stealing a pair of (overpriced) leggings. I won't spoil this short story with all the details, but Norwood really worked Murray over. That was a massive amount of injury for one body. Norwood's attempt to cover up what she did was eye-widening. Crime scene photos are available on Google if you are into that, but they are pretty bloody.

I prefer my true crime books to be an unbiased, factual account of the case. This one leaned a lot toward the victim's side. While understandable, it wasn't on par with the hard hitting true crime investigative books that I generally read. This book was free to listen to on Audible Plus, so no harm done as far as spending money for something that wasn't the best. I think it was just over a three hour listen, so worth the time spent. I did learn about this case, which I had not heard of previously, so it was worth checking out for that reason alone.

This book features the case of Martha Moxley, who was found murdered in her prominent neighborhood via golf club. The persons of interest in this case were two boys who had been seen with her earlier in the night. These boys happen to be related to the notorious Kennedy family, which is why I picked this book up in the first place. I always buy anything Kennedy related. The style of writing was okay, and the case was presented in a manner that was easy to follow. Mark Fuhrman does have a reputation for himself, and not all of it is good, so I try to take anything he says with a grain of salt. Overall, it was a fine read.

I did not know anything about Brooke Astor prior to reading this. She had an interesting life, and it came to a pathetic end. The book suggests that one should feel sorry for her son Tony Marshall, who felt unloved and who was unwanted, and I suppose that I did for a brief moment. I do not feel sorry for him after he left her to rot, basically gave the finger to his own son, and swiped and swindled as much as he could from an old lady suffering from Alzheimers. Elder abuse is disgusting, and I really do not care what the circumstance surrounding their relationship was. It was vile. The book was not one of the better ones I read for my January selections in the 2021 Reading Challenge.

I bought this book at a used book store after I accidently ran across it. I was right in the middle of binge watching The Crown, and I was very interested to learn more about Lord Mountbatten. Luckily, I spotted this book even though it did not have a dust jacket on it. I learned a lot about the life and career of Lord Mountbatten from this book, and I recommend it for anyone else who wants an in depth biography of him.
