It was confusing and the writing wasn’t that strong

I almost finished…but I just couldn’t. The story was solid, but I couldn’t abide by the cop romantic interest. That and the entire cast of characters was all seemingly white and straight. Maybe these elements are hallmark of this genre, which I don’t read usually, but it seemed glaringly basic. Didn’t even care whodunnit by the end, I just straight up quit 

Got halfway through and just wasn’t invested in finishing 

I did not like the narration— maybe I’ll try it on paper another time 

Wasn’t keeping my attention unfortunately. Too bad. I was highly anticipating this one
