This was a really sweet book. I'm not usually one for books with nuns and religion and faith, but the characters were captivating. There was just a wonderful connection between everyone which sort of reminded me of another favorite of mine, Let the Great World Spin by McCann

This book was quite...uhhh...something. It was a lot. It's definitely a book that people have been talking about--in both positive and negative ways. Some people think it is well written and a compelling and powerful telling of a story of abuse. Other people see the author, a man, inaccurately portraying the trauma Turtle withstood. I don't know if it was a good book or not or if I really enjoyed it, but it wasn't terrible I suppose? I was tempted to put it down at times, but I am happy that I decided to finish it because leaving it half-read would have left a somewhat worse impression of events than reading it in its entirety.
