Loved the characters and the premise, but I needed more tension and some actual subplots for this to have fully worked. There is literally just the main plot and there isn't really all that much mystery. The synopsis tells us that Yskander was murdered, Mahit mostly figures out what happened in the early chapters, and the rest of the book is a lot of exposition that doesn't really move the plot. Overall - good, not great.
