things that bothered me: julian, the length of this book (it dragged so much geez), julian
things that i liked: ty, kieran(love him), mark, diana (yas), the fair folk (i think they are really interesting and much less dramatic than shadowhunters lmao)
i just didn’t love this book, some parts got super boring and unnecessary, but the plot was great! however, i don’t think the dark artifices will ever ever be better than the infernal devices; will, tessa, jem, sophie, jessmine and everyone else holds a very special place in my heart ♥️
i found julian extremely creepy, he is just.... ew. i don’t like him and his relationship with emma is just weird and overly dramatic tbh. i guess there was just too much sexual tension/angst that it was overdone :/
yeah, sort of a “meh” book, with great plot twists and great lgbt rep but a very problematic character (jULiaN oMg) k bye i can’t write proper reviews lmfao
***update***
(yea im bored to the point where i come back to this review to change its rating lmao)
it’s been a couple of months and since qoaad came out everyone has been reading and reviewing it. so i watched some of those and i literally can’t remember a single thing from this book (i still can’t differentiate the blackthorns, who died, the famous cliffhanger and so on) so that’s a pretty good sign that this book is rly bad or it just wasn’t for me bc everyone seems to love this series gosh

mmmkay, so i didnt love this like pretty much everyone else . i think the two problems i have encountered here are:
1) me. yeah, reading all of those reviews, i have realised that one of the reasons people love this book so much is their personal connections and relations with it. ari is very real (as in his character is an honest portrayal of a 15 year old), but i personally did not relate to him that much. actually, not at all. im also not latina so the "atmosphere" wasnt nostalgic. fortunately, i dont struggle with depression/self hate/etc etc. im also aro/ace so i cant relate with all the pretty quotes about love.
2)the length of this book. i guess i have become too used to reading super long series with 5 books with 600 pages that this felt too.... short. the chapters were like, 3 pages, and there is no magic system/world buiding to be done, so i guess i just need more. some dialogues and scenes should have been longer and explored more. so many pivotal points have been summarised in 2 short sentences that it felt almost empty.
conclusion: contemporary romamces with cute writing arent really my thing.
im sorry for this review, it is honestly all over the place and probably makes no sense. but, if you came this far, thank you.
