Where to start. Friedman doesn’t apparently understand the difference between countries that claim to be communist or socialist (such as China) and systems that more closely emulate socialism (such as Cuba) and theoretical full communism without the existence of capital. He doesn’t address how the market hierarchies create coercion and a lack of freedom for the impoverished and claims each individual “household” can theoretically produce profit in the spare time these people supposedly have. He does not address the limits of human emotion or willpower nor healthcare, mental health, etc and how that creates more ability and time and stability for the wealthy. Friedman claims early on that in the free market people work like a collective without the individual ever having to do something that won’t benefit him yet Friedman also claims that the wealthy will support the poor who want to advocate for socialism or communism and need funds… even though that wouldn’t benefit them. Contradictions everywhere and a general lack of political theory comprehension.
