Such a fun re-read before watching the movie! It has probably been almost 15 years since I read this the first time, so it was fun to re-visit.

I struggled with the first part of the book, the main character's narration was hard to follow. There were a lot of references to authors and artists that I was not familiar with and also did not have context to.
I loved the second half and thought it told a very sad and important perspective on the flawed immigration/citizenship system in place in the US.
