Caitlin Doughty’s writing is incredible as usual. I am genuinely fascinated by the topic of death/dying and improving our cultural relationship to it. (you no longer own me, religious trauma!)
PS - if you read ‘How High We Go in the Dark’ I *highly* recommend checking out the chapter on Japan from this book. I didn’t realize how much Nagamatsu was inspired by existing tradition and that knowledge added an extra rich dimension to a book I already loved.

this had a really fun, over the top cinematic quality that I absolutely loved! can’t wait to read more by the author.
