Like others I found the multiple art styles distracting. I think having it noted at the end of the volume was a bad decision and would have preferred to know going in that the art style would be different.
Similar to others as well I didn't really feel as if this volume pushed the story forward in any way and kinda just reiterated the previous volume and introduced random characters who were irrelevant.

I adored this book. Sometimes I feel we can lose some story with novels written in verse but this one was so well written. None of the story was left out. We were able to see into the mind of Mike while also experiencing what he lived through. Definitely recommend this one.

I think it would have helped to read All Boys Aren't Blue before picking up this one as that books is reference quite a few times.
Upon finishing this book I did think about what I learned in school as a child. None of these people were ever mentioned. I thought about how all the books I read for my Language Arts courses were written by white men. I think it is important to add in stories and histories of Black and queer communities.
I did want more from this book though. Less about the author and more about the people of the Harlem Renaissance.

What it must be like to love in a time of war. This story was heartbreaking and beautiful and i couldn't ask for a better dystopian love story.

This book helped me to understand my own experiences with health and how what we consume and how we live can affect our health in extreme ways.

Read this for a Barnes and Noble book a week challenge for the theme "Investigative."
I was expecting something completely different from this book but instead was greatly surprised by how easily I took in the information and was able to sit with it and learn from it.
The author showcases how important oral histories can be alongside discussing how the exhibitions, displays, and information we provide to patrons can impact the lives of people who lived through these moments.
