This book was very funny but ultimately was just average. The ending felt rushed, but on the whole it was well written and interesting enough.

I know this is a Kindle Single and therefore a short story but I still found myself puzzled when I came to the ending - that's it?! Seems like a plot that should've been fleshed out and made into a full length novel, because it definitely has potential to be interesting and amusing. But in this form it was just...odd. It didn't really go anywhere. I don't read short stories usually (I'm just a Nick Hornby fan and was excited to see this in the Kindle shop) so I'm not sure if it's just because I'm not used to such short books, but it's got to be done better than this, surely?!

I really, really liked this book. I've never really read any mystery/thriller books so the suspense was all new to me, and it was nice to not know what the hell was going to happen (does that make me stupid? I don't know, but I enjoyed the ride anyway).

It was very weird to read it as a first person narrative. I rooted for Amy and hated Nick for so long that when it flipped and it became obvious that it was Amy we were now supposed to hate I struggled and ended up still rooting for her, but feeling very strange about it.

This would've been a five star book for me, but the ending let it down. I suppose that's more my fault than the author's fault, in that I wanted an amazing ending for Amazing Amy (though I don't know what that ending would've been). I wonder if there'll be a sequel. I sort of hope so, because I so want to know what happens next, but then I don't want to be disappointed.

I really liked Flynn's writing and I'll be checking out some of her other work - I found that I wanted to read much much quicker than I did because I wanted to know what happened next so badly. And at one point I couldn't take the suspense and I crushed a can I was holding - i'm not sure if thrillers are good for me to read...

This was like wading through someone's Pinterest board of crap. This book has been recommended to me countless times by friends and teachers and over the years it's always been one I'd never got around to checking out. So when I finally got around to it this week I was expecting something profound and mind altering, at least a little bit. But it was just sickly sweet, like the author had trawled through the Internet making notes of every godawful 'wise' saying and bashed them all together to make a book - It tried way too hard.

This book was cheesy as hell, but strangely enjoyable. It was so predictable that it had me rolling my eyes when things happened that I just knew were about to happen, and the writing was, in parts, so clichéd it made me cringe.

But despite that it's a 3 star book instead of 2 because the story itself was engrossing, Alice was a lovely character and I loved reading how Julia and Alice's relationship developed. And though it was all painfully obvious, it was like eating a big comforting bowl of something beige and creamy - not particularly exciting, and you know exactly what you're going to get but it's still warming and nice.

Wonderfully written, but a very odd book indeed. I'm not even sure what to say about it, since finishing it ten minutes ago I've just sat here thinking 'what the hell was that'...
It was a good read (not brilliant, but good) but I wish it had expanded on a lot of things it touched on. I found myself wanting to know more of Melly's life in her present, more of Milly's life and her relationships with the other characters and I really wished that the implied, touched upon feminism was more of a prominent theme.

Anyway, this book is the first one I've read in around a year that hasn't been on my Kindle and how difficult it was to find combined with the lack of cover and mysterious 'lost classic' status definitely added to my enjoyment of this...not sure if that's shallow of me
