Women sure have dealt with a lot!! Even in this fictionalization, there is truth to how women were literally used as birthing units. Never the man’s fault. Doesn’t Matter how rich or poor, used and abused in different ways. And at such a young age! It is eye opening. And also very well written to keep you engaged. I felt the fear. 

It’s hard to know how to express what I liked about this book. The story was very real, not sneaky or conniving, not ruthless or lustful, but oddly (maybe awkwardly???) real? Questions that one might ask themselves if they too were put into these characters’ shoes. Lots of what ifs and maybes and nevers and no ways. Raw but not in an agonizing way. Hopeful but in a cautious way. Wonderful to have felt part of the narrative as the reader. 

I love her books!! Sassy, strong female characters, misunderstandings, family drama, and workplace snobs? Yes, please! 

3.5 but I’ll round up. A great cozy mystery! Twisty enough, but not overly confusing. A little slow at times, and often repetitive. But that is the point…

This was fantastic! The beginning felt a little slow. But the rest of story was beautiful and engaging. So many wonderful thoughts throughout the journey. My favorite part was when they spoke of music. Lovely. 

I listened to this and I thought the best parts were when he talked of his time in war and Africa. He really seemed in his element. Annoying with all 2-6 minute chapters, felt clunky. I’m glad he told his story. 

Yes. Loved this. A friend told me I’d love it- truth. Travel, poor communication, long friendship turned love, quirky and awesome families… just a great romance! Wonderful book for the nightstand to read before bed. 

Super enjoyed this one! I love the messiness and twisted conversations, the writing, the music. I enjoyed the Emily and Chess story more than the trio’s story, and the huh at the end! It was a great winter mystery/thriller and better than Reckless Girls. 

A wonderful punch in the heart. So many questions asked, so much love and support, so many ideas and issues that I have never imagined people going through. Let’s be nice to each other. 

A lovely read. I loved his own story and then how a small penguin could become so beloved and bring people together. Clearly a different time and different place, but great to get a glimpse into this world.
