Overall really enjoyed it once I got into it. A little slow to start but that’s fine.
I loved the complex friendships and family dynamics and liked that our MC is messy and imperfect. The romance was frustrating at times but such is life, and I felt like the narrative needed smoothing out at times but this is an early copy so totally understandable!

Not Exactly What I Had in Mind

I wanted to love this but something didn’t quite connect. I’m not even sure I can put my finger on it because it wasn’t one big thing. The dialogue felt a little stiff, the characters weren’t massively likeable, the plot didn’t engage me as much as I’d like.
I’m sad to say it was a DNF for me

The premise is interesting but I am not gelling with out narrator and I’m not engaged by the story at all. Not for me.

House of Hollow

I was looking forward to this, and I can see why so many enjoyed it but I found the characters unlikeable and also kind of boring? This one just wasn’t for me

Rule of Wolves

Leigh Bardugo

I so wanted to love this but I’m just at a point of not caring? Or at least on the way and I don’t want to be bored of these characters. Maybe I’ll come back to it at another point.

This was quite slow to start, but at around 80/90 pages it really picked up. The characters are brilliant and I especially enjoyed the story when our random team becomes fully assembled.
I loved the animal characters and thought they added a lot of humour and innocence. The older women in the crew were brilliant and I loved reading their contrasting personalities.

This isn’t heavy fantasy and isn’t plot heavy, though plenty happens, but I would say 50/50 plot/character focus and I really enjoyed it.

That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon

Kimberly Lemming

DID NOT FINISH: 10%

The humour and storyline seem really great for this book but it reads like it needs another huge edit. The time-settings feels disjointed at times and it’s quite jarring and it’s quick clunky to read
