Ran out of time on my libby hold, but bought the physical copy to finish instead.

The final straw for me was when Dax Facetimed Gemma on her Samsung phone, but there were so many inconsistencies throughout this I was going insane. Which is a shame because it's such a cute premise.

Dax thought she was a stalker who broke into his store and knows intimate details about him (including where his sister works) in the beginning but then NONE of her behavior is suspicious to him after he thinks she’s cute, even though she just shows up at the bar he frequents and really wants to join his super random curling team?

Once we get past that, Dax knows NOTHING about her in this timeline except she’s reluctant to date him, keeps putting a halt on the flirting, but instead of reading the signs he won’t stop until she talks to another dude and he's salty about it?
He says he and Sunny only talk at curling and aren’t close then why do they have a secret handshake and why was HE the one giving her a ride home and why is HE the one she’s texting that she got to work safely?
Why would the super random friends/strangers of Gemma's invite Dax to their wedding?!?! They have never met him and for all intents and purposes this is their first date and they aren’t even that close to Gemma so it's weird enough they're inviting her when they just saw her randomly out one night.

I don’t understand why Elliot looked familiar / looked like Stuart. That was never explained im very confused.
Sex positive does not mean you talk about your hookup the night before in front of your six year old.
Kiersten went from “Trent is my best friend” to that man bought me a mop as an anniversary present in literally one chapter. Zero consistency.
She doesn’t put a lot of weight into the act of sex, but had a sex DREAM about him once and tensions were weird for weeks? And couldn't hook up with AU Dax because it might be weird with OU Dax? Make it make sense.
But literally, when her having a Samsung phone was a key point in her realizing she was in an alternate universe, you think they would remember he can't Facetime her.

I just couldn't keep going. It was dragging so much and the plot wasn't going anywhere. The back and forth between the different timelines just kept ruining any momentum I gained (albeit not much, because I was not invested in either timeline.)
The whole story just feels like fanfiction and a trope checkbox list. I had issues with the first in this series but I really believed it had potential if the author could get a better editor / plot out the full story, but I'm giving up hope.
The characters are so flat - the trauma is used to manufacture drama and it's just not believable nor am I particularly invested in it. The relationships are volatile for no reason - they have blow ups that come out of nowhere and make up so quickly with no real depth. 
I found myself hate reading / dreading going back to finish so I'm just calling it quits.

This is marketed as an enemies to lovers story, but all the enemies happened off page before we met them. There were flashbacks, but they really did more to mess with the flow of the story than provide any real context. It almost felt like I was reading a sequel, like I has missed something.
The pacing was choppy. We kept switching pov's but the reasoning felt arbitrary. We weren't learning anything new from these people - Alexi just kept repeating how obsessed she was with Jerusalem, and Jerusalem just kept repeating all the people she was angry at and how much she liked killing.
I had a hard time with the language use. Jerusalem was previously a slave and her verbiage that mimicked that made a lot of sense, but it wasn't consistent - especially in her narration voice. It was very jarring having her voice bounce around the way it did. On top of that there were weirdly modern phrases being used. With the amount of dialogue in this story it really became an annoyance that wasn't easy to ignore.
I really wanted to like this book - the premise sounds amazing. But our main characters were just so one dimensional I couldn't invest in them.

This felt like I was re-reading Legends and Lattes but with Tea this time instead of Coffee. 
And I love healthy communication, but this just felt like they were explaining WHY their communication was so healthy the whole time. You don't have to keep telling me, just have them communicate. 

I did actually really enjoy the narrator though! I would absolutely listen to other books she's narrated. 

The prose is so hard to get through. Every single paragraph is trying to end with a dramatic punch, eventually the effect is diminished and nothing actually makes an impact.
The world building is so clunky and for attempting to be political intrigue, each nugget we learn feels like an after thought. Nothing happened the entire first chapter except our main character just listing examples of why Colonizing Empire = Bad. We got it. The info-dumping monologues (both internal and via speech!) were killing me. Worse than being morally gray is just being annoying. 

This reads like a middle grade fantasy.
I think if it was marketed that way I would have come into it with a different mindset, but as it is, I'm very thrown off by the fact that they're supposed to be 18 years old. 14 would have made way more sense, and the cringey dialogue / actions (a dude trips her? in college?) would have felt more realistic.
Wren is so small. And has a double bird name. and is so short. and pours soap in a fountain for her birthday. and has pink in her hair. She's so quirky. and small. I also must have missed how everyone was supposed to keep this secret about moon magic but she still knows. If her parent's told her why did they make her uncle promise not to talk to her about it? How did she find out about Lee and Sam?
Lee is. sigh. Fine. His unrequited crush again feels a little juvenile. But I just can't bring myself to care about either of them or their romance.

 Idk man I was just so bored. There seemingly should be a lot to be invested in. Dani's mysterious backstory and issues with her mom. The heist gone wrong. The band of misfits that used to be her family. I loved the dog, but everyone else was just kind of meh. I kept finding myself having to push to finish a chapter and life's too short. It's not badly written, I just could NOT get invested.

I just couldn't get on board with Penny. She seems very dumb despite her somehow being very successful. 
The premise was interesting, I do think I will return to finish it at some point / update my review. Just couldn't get past her

This book was interesting, but the world building made me feel like I was reading a text book. I would like to come back to it at some point though! I'm hoping when I get through that it will flow a lot easier.
