read this as an ebook back when it first released and it was okay. bought the paperback a few months ago because it was pretty (enough) but it bored me so much i didn't even make it to meeting luc more than twice

the writing style felt weak and the plot was v predictable. liked the characters but the dynamics felt boring and i honestly didn't see the appeal in its enemies to lovers. i think i would've liked it more if it wasn't marketed as a thick book (if that makes sense) because i was just so done with it. that said, the representation is great and i also appreciate the metaphor between reaperhood and racism in 1920s america.

[edit: i do think that could have been expanded upon a lot. it felt like it was a little too ambitious and ended up simply skimming a lot of stuff.]

honestly would not recommend.
