couldn't help but feel a kinship with Pike based on her personal quest.
took me awhile to get into this, six chapters or so, but then i dived right in and finished much faster then i thought i would. i loved all the gaming elements and how they represented different people. and i loved how worlds began to collide too, games and life. i wished that could've been taken to a next level, but i know that's hard to show when the main character is directing the game.
oooo, this was amazing! great complicated characters and as well thought out world, with mingling cultures and politics. and parts at the end that just made me tear up, which is a rare occurrence.
Every time I finish the next book in this series, I'm always ready for more. Great characters, great action, but most importantly I can't get through a chapter without a small laugh.
This book was...okay. It's quick, would work well as a beach read, but at risky of sounding haughty wasn't at my usual level of reading. There didn't feel to be a lot of depth here. The action was great - this would work well as a movie - but I found the characters not super engaging and the mysteries didn't really grab my attention. But if you just want something you can start and finish in a weekend, this is probably what you want.
Loved the prose in this story, and all the thoughts about life and war and philosophy that are sprinkled throughout the book.
