This book is now very near and dear to me as it reminds me of someone in my life who identifies as genderfluid. From what I've heard from them, the representation seems to be very well done. Because this story is so close to my heart, I had to stop reading at times as I was getting too emotional while relating Brendan to my genderfluid friend. This book was absolutely amazing and it needs more recognition.

(My genderfluid friend read this after me and also gave it 4.75 stars)

2.75☆

I read an abridged version of this for school but it was still extremely long and had the same ideas. So part of me says I'm not allowed to dislike this so much since I didn't read the whole thing, but I can tell you without a doubt that I would've DNFd it as I am apparently not a fan of the hero and glory Grecian stories. I didn't like any of the characters except maybe Penelope and I honestly don't care about slaying Scylla or killing a cyclops or a bag of wind that screwed them over because they were all extremely stupid. So there you have it, this book is not for me.

Holy shit that was so hard to listen to but so beautiful❤
