I mean..... I loved the first book in this series and I was so excited to read this one. It just wasn’t what I wanted and the characters didn’t grab me the way PO&OF did. It was fine, but that’s all.

2.5 I mean....... this reads like every other thriller from the past five years? Nothing new, nothing mind blowing. Bland, 2D characters who exist solely for plot and have about as much depth as a puddle. Lackluster plot that, again, reads like every other book of this same kind.

This comic reminds me of playing TTRPGs with my wild, rowdy, foulmouthed friends. It makes me want to go on epic adventures. The characters have so much to them and there is so much joy in every page, even when they are fighting bloody battles. This is my second read through and I just adore them.

rereading in prep for peace talks. This book hits hard. Like, I know what's going to happen and I know what choices Harry is forced to make but WOW. Even knowing the twists, this book still messes me directly up!

TW: rape, including incest.

This book was really beautifully written. It has insightful things to say about the role of women in rural areas of the country. It had a lot to say about faith as well. I loved the deep, intriguing characters. A great first novel.

DNFing. This was not at all for me.

TW: hate crimes, Islamaphobia, murder, rape. I struggle to suggest this book because it was extremely hard to read. Not just because a child is being falsely accused of being a terrorist but also because although this is not set where I live, it easily could be. It is a challenging, heartbreaking read. I am glad I read it but I do not know if I can recommend it. BTW, I searched for spoilers to see if anything bad happened to the trans character in this novel. Spoiler: she is safe and is not harassed or hurt for being trans

This was a beautiful book. It felt so close, like someone was holding my hands as I was reading it. It was really hard to read at times but well worth it.  It taught me so much I didn’t know.
